At Zordi, we are building fully autonomous greenhouse systems using intelligent robots to grow delicious and sustainable food. We also grow and pack premium strawberries for sale in New York City and across the northeast. We are looking for multiple people to support propagation and R&D at our high-tech greenhouse in Oakfield, NY.
This part-time, hourly position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advanced agriculture, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time within 30 days based on performance. Greenhouse Associates are key members of the Zordi team, assisting with propagation, crop care, and equipment maintenance while playing an essential role in advancing our R&D goals.
Position Highlights
- Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
- Schedule: Part-time / Contract / Temp or Full-time, 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM, with occasional weekend and holiday shifts
- Location: Oakfield, NY 14125
- Propagation Operations Support the propagation process by preparing and planting new strawberry tips according to SOPs, ensuring a high success rate and efficient growth.
- Crop Care & Organization Organize plant and plant care equipment for optimal use, ensuring tools and resources are well-maintained and accessible.
- Greenhouse Equipment Maintenance Assist with monitoring, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of greenhouse systems, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Crop Scouting & Pruning Perform essential crop care tasks such as scouting for plant health and pruning as directed, ensuring plants remain in ideal condition for growth.
- Data Collection Gather and record crop-related data, contributing to ongoing R&D efforts and helping the team optimize production.
- Workplace Safety & Cleanliness Maintain a safe, organized, and positive work environment by adhering to all food safety, worker safety, and standard operating procedures.
- Experience: 2-3 years in production agriculture or equivalent experience in a related field such as manufacturing, landscaping, or laboratory work.
- Attention to Detail: Able to follow instructions, maintain accurate records, and ensure consistent quality in plant care and data collection.
- Team-Oriented: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative setting and able to adapt as needed.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 30+ lbs repeatedly, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledgeable in food safety, worker safety, and SOPs to maintain compliance and quality.
