Microsoft Industry Solutions Delivery (ISD) is a global organization of strategic sellers, industry experts, engineers, architects, and consultants who help customers innovate with AI, migrate to and realize value in the cloud, and drive high-impact business outcomes. At ISD, as part of Microsoft Frontier Company, you will help customers turn complex business priorities into secure, scalable, and value-driven Microsoft Cloud and AI solutions.
As a Solution Architect, you will play a key role across the full customer engagement lifecycle, contributing to business development, pre-sales, and delivery activities. You will help identify and shape new opportunities, lead solution envisioning and technical strategy discussions, and own the end-to-end architecture for complex customer engagements. Working closely with customer stakeholders, account teams, and delivery professionals, you will translate business objectives into scalable cloud and AI solutions, de-risk implementations, drive adoption and consumption, and ensure architectural quality and alignment with Microsoft practices. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your architecture leadership, expand your influence from opportunity creation through successful execution, and strengthen your ability to deliver measurable business outcomes through technology transformation.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
Gather and share customer and partner insights from a broad range of stakeholders, including the main business sponsor, to shape project definition and execution and evaluate relevant industry and technology trends.
Work with customer and partner stakeholders, such as enterprise architecture, security, development, operations, and business teams, to socialize the business solution and project approach, evaluate needed changes, and help the project and account teams adjust solution approach, costs, or change requests where appropriate.
Use an evidence-based approach as a customer advocate by sharing insights with Product Engineering teams and the business to improve Microsoft technologies, products, services, and offerings so they better meet customer and partner needs.
Define and document architecture using structured methodologies, reference architectures, established architectural styles, and design patterns. Maintain architecture descriptions, decision logs, and requirements or constraints traceability so the rationale, value proposition, tradeoffs, and operating model are clear and understood.
Collaborate with Delivery Managers, Account Teams, and Bid Teams to govern solution design, build, deployment, pilots, and transition to live operations. Drive requirements validation, risk mitigation, test planning, quality practices, release planning, and change control while balancing customer priorities, technical credibility, innovation, cost, and business value.
Identify scenarios that could slow pre-sales or delivery, orchestrate the broader Microsoft team to address technical blockers, support resolution of non-technical issues, escalate significant problems when needed, and coordinate specialist expertise into a single plan of action for complex or ambiguous situations.
Drive practice development, trusted advisor relationships, and thought leadership by improving intellectual property, encouraging reuse, participating in communities, decisions that may not produce optimal outcomes, communicating Microsoft value against competitor solutions, mentoring colleagues, and embodying Microsoft culture and values.
