Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation is seeking a Program Manager, Energy Markets to drive strategic energy initiatives across the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of energy, technology, and infrastructure, helping to deliver the reliable and sustainable energy solutions that support Microsoft's expanding datacenter footprint and the growth of the cloud and AI economy.
In this role, you will manage a portfolio of projects focused on datacenter energy supply and technology. Responsibilities include supporting site selection efforts, advancing datacenter interconnection strategies, evaluating new technologies, developing business cases, communicating project requirements, supporting data management needs, and partnering with stakeholders to identify and execute opportunities that enable Microsoft's continued growth.
As part of the CO+I Energy Team, you will join a group of specialists responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and delivering strategic energy solutions across the region. Working closely with internal teams, utilities, regulators, industry experts, and other external partners, you will help balance sustainability, speed to market, and economic value while shaping the infrastructure that powers Microsoft's global cloud and AI services. You'll tackle complex challenges, influence critical decisions, and contribute to projects that have a lasting impact at scale.

- Lead datacenter interconnection development with utilities and third-party energy suppliers in support of Microsoft’s datacenter businesses in EMEA.
- Assist in the analysis of energy industry trends, market policy, and regulations to proactively identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, and advance sustainability goals.
- Partner with globally distributed internal stakeholders on site selection and energy project development.
- Assist in datacenter metric tracking and process improvement for internal reporting.
- Work collaboratively with external vendors and consultants on regional energy market research, distilling key insights material to Microsoft’s cloud business growth.
- Support internal business cases including providing input on financial models and regional strategies.
- Business travel required (10%-25%, subject to fluctuation with business tempo).
Qualifications
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Law, Policy, or related field, and experience in the energy industry, project management, business development, or related role
- OR Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Law, Policy
- OR equivalent experience.
- Broad understanding of the European power industry, with specific focus on the mechanics of deregulated power markets.
- Understanding of working within the energy and/or utility industry in Europe.
- Strong commercial and technical analysis capabilities to support review of utility tariffs, power contracts, and power market fundamentals
- Fluent in English and Spanish
While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience negotiating power agreements.
- Experience working within the energy and/or utility industry in Europe.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Sourcing Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Spain is € 47,200.00 - € 81,000.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
