Software Engineering, Other Engineering, Data Science
Redmond, WA, USA
USD 142,800-274,800 / year
As AI reshapes how software is built and defended, Microsoft Security is standing up a new Engineering Excellence organization that will define what world-class security engineering looks like in the agentic AI era. Engineering teams that lead in the AI era are organized around outcomes, built on shared platforms any team can draw from, and augmented by agents that are part of the daily workflow. Governance runs at the speed of development. This organization will build that foundation for Microsoft Security, and in doing so, help define what engineering excellence looks like at AI scale.
Mission:
Deliver high-quality systems and tools that improve developer productivity, strengthen reliability, and support adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows across Microsoft Security.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you will develop features in engineering platforms, pipelines, and developer tooling that improve daily developer experience and velocity. You will contribute to AI-assisted workflows such as automation, testing support, and code generation, partner with teams to adopt shared tools and practices, and help instrument engineering health signals so teams can understand where systems are working well and where they need improvement.
Expectations:
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in software engineering, build systems, service architecture, and secure development practices, with exposure to or strong interest in AI-assisted engineering workflows. They should be able to debug and operate within complex engineering environments, learn across systems and tooling, and contribute to shared, governed platforms that help raise consistency across the organization.
Candidates for this role should demonstrate an emerging engineering excellence mindset. The right person will not simply complete assigned features but look for ways to make shared systems simpler, more reliable, and easier for other engineers to use. They should show curiosity about how developers work, care deeply about quality and maintainability, and be willing to grow across engineering systems, tooling, and AI-enabled workflows.
