Overview

The Copilot Marketing Field & Partner Strategy organization leads go-to-market planning, strategy, execution, and thought leadership for how Microsoft delivers customer value through our sales organizations and partner channels. We develop market- and customer-informed Go-To-Market strategy, build practices, use propensity data to support business outcomes, and leverage our understanding of the business to help inform investments and business results.

In this newly established Director, Product Marketing role within the organization, reporting to the GM and serving on the leadership team, you will have the opportunity to drive impact for our team and for Microsoft. You will lead cross-organization strategic initiatives to help shape end-to-end strategy and bring together work across teams. You will drive thought leadership, deepen market and competitor understanding, and develop new Go-To-Market strategies to support new business opportunities. You will focus on building cross-organization partnerships, developing influence strategies to support vision and prioritization, and bringing ideas forward through business case development.

The immediate priority for this role will be bringing together the end-to-end strategy for Copilot Credit usage-based billing, helping the organization move from launch execution to a durable, repeatable consumption business. You will coordinate work across the company to develop a plan to support business growth, partner closely with the Azure organization to align vision and integrate with FinOps communities, and manage the business with a data-driven approach to identify opportunities and address known issues.



Responsibilities

How you can make an impact:

  • Develop and lead the vision for cross-organization initiatives, connecting the team and ensuring we are informed by market research, customer insights, and are developing comprehensive strategies across our Go-To-Market surfaces.
  • Formulate business case proposals and whitepapers that build and frame strategy to align direction and accelerate from idea to market implementation.
  • Run executive steercos to manage the business with discipline, assess ideas, and ensure alignment across the company.
  • Champion work from across the team, empowering and supporting ideas, recognizing the work of others and ensuring opportunities for team members to present and receive recognition for their work.
  • Drive competitive research and gain understanding of where the market is moving related to developer and knowledge worker AI consumption that can be integrated into Go-To-Market strategies.
  • Develop data-driven growth strategy and go-to-market engines spanning multiple products.
  • Work with senior executives and their organizations to assess ideas, foster collaboration, and align direction.
  • Lead with trust, inclusion, and valuing diverse perspectives and ideas.

How you will measure success:

  • Supporting the growth objectives of the Copilot Credits business, driving performance on success measures including activation, active users, trial-to-paid conversion, retention, and expansion.
  • Progress in establishing Microsoft as a leader in AI cost management.
  • Developing a clearly articulated AI Go-To-Market strategy that is being executed across sales and partner teams.
  • Consistent executive understanding of performance, future direction, and key strategies being executed to support growth.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years marketing or sales experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 12+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional, enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Understanding of go-to-market strategy, ideally in cloud, SaaS, or AI-driven businesses
  • Experience in conducting competitive and market research and turning that into business cases and proposals
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems and drive them to clear outcomes
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, including creating executive-level narratives and presentations
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority and build alignment across teams
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data and insights into actionable strategy
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, evolving environments with high levels of ambiguity
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner across sales, marketing, partner, and product teams


Product Marketing IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
