We are hiring for multiple Software Engineers II and Senior Software Engineers opportunities across Commerce Platforms. These roles span several high-impact engineering areas, including:

In these roles, you will help design, build, and operate the next generation of commerce solutions by developing distributed systems, cloud-native services, AI-powered capabilities, data platforms, and mission-critical transaction systems that support customers, partners, and employees worldwide.
You will work across engineering, product, research, and data teams to solve complex technical challenges, modernize commerce experiences, improve operational excellence, and deliver solutions at global scale.
This role requires you to be onsite 3 days a week in Microsoft’s offices in Redmond, WA.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, deploy, and operate scalable, secure, and highly reliable distributed systems and cloud-native services.
- Develop commerce platform capabilities supporting AI solutions, financial systems, payments, offers, pricing, catalogs, data models, and transaction processing platforms.
- Build AI-powered experiences, intelligent automation, agentic workflows, and data-driven capabilities that improve customer and business outcomes.
- Develop and maintain APIs, backend services, cloud platforms, data pipelines, and full-stack applications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define technical approaches, and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Create and own technical designs, architecture proposals, implementation plans, and engineering documentation.
- Drive platform modernization initiatives that improve scalability, resiliency, observability, security, compliance, and developer productivity.
- Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development efficiency, code quality, testing, deployment, and operational excellence.
- Improve live-site health through monitoring, telemetry, automation, incident response, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Champion engineering excellence through secure development practices, code reviews, automation, and high operational standards.
- Partner across engineering, product, program management, research, and data teams to deliver end-to-end customer-focused solutions.
- Mentor engineers, contribute to team culture, and foster a collaborative, inclusive environment.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or preferred qualifications
- Professional experience building software systems, cloud services, distributed applications, or platform technologies.
- Proficiency in C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, or similar programming languages.
- Experience building distributed systems, microservices, APIs, cloud-native services, or large-scale platforms.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.Experience with full-stack development, backend engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure services, or data-driven applications.
- Experience building AI-powered solutions, intelligent automation, LLM-enabled applications, agentic workflows, or leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Familiarity with financial systems, revenue platforms, payments, commerce platforms, pricing systems, catalog management, data modeling, or transaction processing systems.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, telemetry, observability, and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of security, privacy, accessibility, reliability, and Responsible AI principles.
- Analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Exposure to AI/ML/Data sciences or data-driven systems, including working with models, data pipelines, or intelligent features.
- Experience with frontend frameworks/languages like ReactJS, TypeScript, etc.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
