As a ROC Critical Environment Technician, you will immerse yourself in the heart of our operations, taking the helm in our state-of-the-art Regional Operations Center. Your day will be dynamic, handling critical alarms and coordinating closely with local teams to ensure the seamless performance of our data centers. Your expertise will be pivotal in maintaining operational integrity and driving incident resolution, all within a collaborative and high-performance environment. This opportunity will allow you to learn about the intricacies of data center operations, develop expertise in incident response and alarm handling, and gain proficiency in utilizing cutting-edge monitoring tools and dashboards to maintain operational excellence. This role allows for remote work flexibility based on Manager discretion.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a ROC Critical Environment Technician, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
  • Advanced Monitoring and Analysis: Independently work on advanced monitoring tasks, serve as an operations specialist in a major area of operations, and utilize technical knowledge and device analytics to recognize trends and potential issues.

  • Incident Management and Response: Support incident response activities and be able to accurately respond to all incidents, coordinate with others to perform corrective actions, and follow procedures related to incidents.

  • Data Center Systems Expertise: Possess an understanding of data center systems, their interactions, and how they contribute to the data center’s operation, focusing on monitoring rather than direct operation.

  • Maintenance Management System Utilization: Utilize the internal Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track alarm response, document alarm details, and run reports.

  • Safety and Security Compliance: Understand and ensure safety and security requirements, participate in required meetings and trainings, and support environmental health and safety (EH&S) objectives.

  • Reporting and Documentation: Provide and submit reports, analyze findings, and document insights to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • 5+ years mission critical services work/applied learning experience (e.g., high availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields)

  • OR equivalent experience

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 7+ years mission critical services experience (e.g., high-availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields)

  • OR Associate’s Degree or technical trade certification (e.g., military, trade school), or higher-equivalent education AND 5+ years mission-critical services experience (e.g., high-availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields) or equivalent experience.

  • OR equivalent experience
