Overview

Security represents the most critical priorities for our customers in a world awash in digital threats, regulatory scrutiny, and estate complexity. Microsoft Security aspires to make the world a safer place for all. We want to reshape security and empower every user, customer, and developer with a security cloud that protects them with end to end, simplified solutions. The Microsoft Security organization accelerates Microsoft’s mission and bold ambitions to ensure that our company and industry is securing digital technology platforms, devices, and clouds in our customers’ heterogeneous environments, as well as ensuring the security of our own internal estate. Our culture is centered on embracing a growth mindset, a theme of inspiring excellence, and encouraging teams and leaders to bring their best each day. In doing so, we create life-changing innovations that impact billions of lives around the world.

The Core Trust team within Microsoft's Identity Division is looking to hire a Senior Product Manager. Our team builds and operates the foundational secrets and certificate infrastructure that Azure and Microsoft depend on — Azure Key Vault, Microsoft PKI, and Managed Identity. Our services protect millions of keys, secrets, and certificates across every Azure region and sovereign cloud, enabling customers and internal teams to build zero-trust architectures without ever handling raw credentials. We sit at the intersection of identity, security, and platform — which means our work touches everything from Security compliance mandates and credential theft mitigation to the cryptographic underpinnings of Azure's most regulated workloads. If you want to work on infrastructure that is both foundational and existentially important to the security posture of one of the world's largest cloud platforms, this is the team.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager who combines deep security domain instinct with the ability to drive clarity across engineering, customers, and leadership in a high-ambiguity environment. You will own portions of our product strategy and execution for Azure Key Vault and PKI-related services that underpin trust for Azure's largest customers and Microsoft's own internal estate.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own portions of the product roadmap for Azure Key Vault and/or PKI services, defining priorities based on customer needs, competitive landscape, compliance requirements (SFI, EU CRA, FedRAMP), and engineering feasibility — and driving those priorities through design, build, and launch.
  • Partner deeply with engineering teams to translate complex cryptographic and certificate lifecycle requirements into clear specifications, make scope tradeoffs, and ship high-quality capabilities on predictable schedules.
  • Engage directly with enterprise customers and internal service teams to understand how they manage secrets, keys, and certificates at scale — turning those insights into product improvements and migration strategies that reduce credential risk.
  • Drive cross-team initiatives across Identity, Security, Azure platform, and Windows teams where Key Vault and PKI intersect with broader platform capabilities like Managed Identity, Conditional Access, and workload identity federation.
  • Communicate product strategy, risk, and progress to senior leadership, including executive-level status updates, escalation framing for migration programs, and strategic narratives connecting your product area to Microsoft's broader security posture.
  • Monitor and act on product health signals — telemetry, support trends, service reliability, and customer feedback — to continuously improve the product experience and operational excellence of your services.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development, OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in cloud security, identity, cryptography, PKI, or secrets/key management product domains
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development, OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with certificate lifecycle management, public key infrastructure (PKI), or hardware security module (HSM) technologies.
Experience managing products that serve both external customers and large-scale internal enterprise consumers simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex migration programs involving legacy infrastructure, multiple stakeholders, and escalation-heavy timelines.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to cloud security (FedRAMP, SOC 2, Common Criteria, EU CRA) and how they shape product requirements.
  • Track record of shipping security or infrastructure products in Azure or comparable hyperscale cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Vault Technologies, PKI, or comparable enterprise key/certificate management platforms.
  • Understanding of non-human identity (workload identity, managed identity, service principal, SPIFFEE) security patterns and challenges.
  • Experience influencing without authority across organizational boundaries — particularly between security, platform engineering, and compliance teams.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to author executive-ready documents, customer-facing communications, and technical specifications.
