Job Description:

WideOrbit is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Vice President (SVP) of Engineering to lead and scale our software development organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and working in close partnership with the SVP of Product, this role is responsible for the strategic direction, execution, and operational excellence of all software engineering teams across the company. The SVP of Engineering will drive innovation, enhance technical capabilities, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet our business goals and exceed customer expectations. This is also a client-facing role that will work closely with customers to understand their needs and assist in the ideation of new features and functionality.

Here’s what success will look like:

Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering organization, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and implement the engineering strategy in alignment with company goals, product roadmaps, and market demands.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CTO and a peer to the SVP of Product in shaping the technology and product vision.

Execution and Delivery

  • Oversee the planning, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of all software products.
  • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of software initiatives by improving development processes, setting clear goals, and tracking progress against KPIs.
  • Champion engineering best practices, coding standards, architecture principles, and agile methodologies.

Talent Development and Organizational Design

  • Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent across multiple teams and geographies.
  • Build and structure teams to scale with business growth while maintaining a high bar for quality and innovation.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the engineering organization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, QA, DevOps, and other departments to ensure cohesive execution and shared ownership of outcomes.
  • Act as a key contributor in strategic planning and budgeting processes.
  • Serve as an internal and external advocate for the engineering organization.

Client Engagement and Innovation

  • Collaborate directly with clients to understand their business needs and technical requirements.
  • Assist in the ideation and planning of new features and product functionality based on client feedback and market opportunities across both linear and digital platforms.
  • Represent the engineering organization in client discussions, ensuring alignment between customer expectations and product delivery.

Innovation and Technology Excellence

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to ensure WideOrbit remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Guide technology choices and architecture decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance across on premise and cloud-based applications.
  • Foster a mindset of experimentation and learning.

To thrive in this role, we’re looking for:

  • 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience in software development, with at least 5 years at the executive level.
  • Proven success in leading large-scale, distributed engineering teams in high-growth environments.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of modern software architecture, cloud infrastructure, AI, and agile development practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with senior executives and cross-functional leaders.
  • Experience in client-facing roles, with a track record of translating customer needs into actionable product strategies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Location: This position can be based in any of our offices. Remote/Telecommute will also be considered.

Pay Range: $180,000 - $220,000 + Variable Bonus

Various factors are considered to determine compensation ranges including market data, location, experience, qualifications, and skills. WideOrbit reserves the right to pay more or less than the salary and benefit information posted.
