In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it
Do you want to participate in shaping a brand that’s transforming access to financial services? We’re seeking a strategic Brand Communications Manager to help bring Wave’s mission to life by crafting meaningful brand experiences that resonate with our users. Through compelling storytelling, strong partnerships, and exceptional execution, you’ll ensure our brand reflects our values, builds trust, and advances our goal of making financial services accessible to everyone as we continue to grow in Senegal.
In this role, you'll;
- Drive the end-to-end execution of high-impact brand and community initiatives, ensuring they are strategically grounded, insight-led, and fully aligned with Wave's mission and values.
- Participate in shaping and evolving Wave's brand identity, messaging frameworks, and tone of voice, and ensure your department empowers teams to communicate with clarity and consistency across all markets and channels.
- Lead creative development process for campaigns and brand programs, partnering with agencies and internal creative teams to deliver compelling content and world-class assets that meet strategic objectives.
- Partner closely with PR, People, and other stakeholder teams to craft internal and external narratives—including events, content, and storytelling—that authentically reflect Wave's values and deepen trust with our audiences.
Key details
- Location: You will work from Dakar and may be relocated to other cities based on business needs.
- Work authorization in Senegal is required.
- This is a permanent position.

Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in brand marketing, communications, or a similar role, preferably in FinTech, telecommunications, or an international organisation.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects and proficiency in project management.
- Strong understanding of storytelling and brand strategy trends, content production, and social media.
- Languages: Fluent in French and English (written and spoken).
- Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with the Senegal market.
- Experience working in multicultural and dynamic environments.
