Wattpad is seeking a highly analytical and driven intern to conduct a comprehensive competitive analysis of key players in the digital storytelling and reading space. This project will involve deep-dive research into competitor products, business models, and market performance to provide actionable insights that will inform Wattpad’s product strategy and market positioning. The final deliverable must be a clear, execution-focused report and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Competitor Identification: Define and prioritize Wattpad’s key competitors globally and within target growth markets.
- Feature Analysis: Map and analyze competitor product features, focusing on core user experience, creator tools, and recent product launches.
- Pricing & Monetization Analysis: Document and compare competitor pricing strategies, subscription tiers, advertising models, and other monetization methods.
- Market Analysis: Assess the primary markets, geographic footprint, and unique regional strategies of key competitors.
- Growth Analysis: Research and estimate competitor user growth, engagement metrics, and revenue growth using publicly available data, industry reports, and financial filings.
- Framework Application: Apply strategic analysis frameworks to structure and interpret collected data.
- Synthesis & Presentation: Synthesize all findings into a final report and a digestible presentation for the leadership team, including clear, prioritized, and execution-ready next steps.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in gathering and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to simplify complex data into clear, actionable narratives.
- Proficiency in presentation and spreadsheet software (e.g., Google Slides, Google Sheets).
