The Director, FP&A will oversee and build out the FP&A team. They will partner closely with the Corporate controller and leaders across the company to help shape strategies and define priorities across the organization. Responsibilities will include all facets of strategic planning, forecasting, reporting, and capital allocation. As a proactive and analytically driven leader, they will focus on driving efficiency and reducing waste in the system without compromising growth. And they will bring thought leadership and best practices to help Waabi scale its operations effectively.

You will focus on...

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Comprehensive budget preparation and oversight, involving the development of annual operating budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Regularly collaborate with leadership, working together to monitor and adjust budgets as needed to protect cash flow.

    • Define, model and report on SaaS business metrics including but not limited to ARR/MRR, Churn, CAC, LTV, etc.

    • Evaluate hardware costs, investments (NRE, Tooling etc.), and drive BOM cost optimization.

    • Identify areas for efficiency improvements, aligning with key stakeholders to roadmap improvement plans.

  • Financial Reporting: Produce accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Monitor and report on financial performance against budget and make necessary adjustments. Present financial results to the executive team.

    • Establish processes and methodologies to track and report on KPI’s.

  • Operational infrastructure: Build financial systems that can support growth and scale to support our ambitions.

    • Take ownership of selecting and implementing FP&A tools that can leverage and support other systems like ERP, AP, T&E etc.

    • Evolve and enforce our T&E policy.

    • Establish a process and structure with teams to report on both financial and non-financial KPI’s.

  • Long term financing planning: Work closely with the leadership on long term (3-5yr) planning.

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making. Evaluate investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Team Leadership: Lead by example in recruiting, developing, motivating, and retaining a highly effective finance team. Inspire change and collaboration among a diverse and distributed team. Encourage sharing of best practices and insights across all members of the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or equivalent; MBA, CFA, and/or CPA certification preferred.

  • 10-12+ years of progressive experience in senior finance leadership positions, collaborating closely with executives.

  • 5-7+ years of finance leadership experience including a stint at a high-growth, venture backed start-up and preferably within the technology industry in the US or Canada. Experience with SaaS like business models.

  • Proven record of building a finance function from scratch or leading a company through its initial commercialization phase.

  • Comprehensive understanding of financial management, analysis, tools and reporting methodologies. Including experience with selecting and/or implementing FP&A software tools. Partnering with engineering teams to ensure data integrity.

  • Strong expertise in financial regulations, accounting principles, and taxation.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.

  • Experience and excitement in supporting a dynamic, high-growth environment.

The US yearly salary range for this role is: $235,000 - $285,000 USD in addition to competitive perks & benefits. Waabi US Inc.’s yearly salary ranges are determined based on several factors in accordance with the Company’s compensation practices. Note: The Company provides additional compensation for employees in this role, including equity incentive awards and an annual performance bonus.
