This position is for an engineering manager in the Engineering Shared Infrastructure Services (ESSI) team. The ESSI team is a critical team that is not just responsible for the cloud and data center infrastructure supporting our internal Engineering Labs around the world.
We are looking for a thought leader and people manager experienced in Cloud infrastructure, Data Center Infrastructure, DevOps and SRE practices to help lead the way as we seek to reinforce and build on a culture of continuous improvement and increasing collaboration and efficiency. This role will empower engineers, recruit, hire and mentor their directs while also acting as a coach/guide, provide feedback to help their group of engineers grow, and expand their professional development. The position will need to outline expectations, support your directs in their scrum teams, offer support and assistance where necessary for them to succeed in their job.
Primary Responsibilities
Act as an advisor and coach to directs on their work and team dynamics
Performance manage directs to enable engineers to operate at their highest potential
Sourcing, interviewing and hiring candidates for open positions, onboarding, guidance to staff, conducting performance evaluations, developing performance improvement plans, and taking corrective action as needed
Align engineers to the corporate and oraganization’s strategy
Recommend changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s)
Evaluates and reviews new technologies on their applicability to product architecture and design
Presenting, evangelizing and communicating with partner teams and stakeholders
Getting feedback and establishing a continuous improvement process
Collaborate with partner teams
Coordinate between team members in the US and Hyderabad
Represent the Engineering Lab Infrastructure Services (ELIS) team in Hyderabad

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Change management
In-depth knowledge of on-prem and public cloud technology
Knowledge on Arista EOS, Juniper JunOS, Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Dell Networking OS
Deep understanding of L2/L3 networking, routing protocols, and high availability systems
Experience with virtualization platforms Network connectivity: OpenStack, VMware, Hyper-V, KVM
Familiarity with Linux, Windows, and systems engineering
Scripting and automation knowledge (Python, Bash, Perl)
Exposure to cloud platforms Networking (AWS, Azure) will be add-ons
Experience with storage technologies Network Configurations
Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a plus
Knowledge and proficiency in software engineering methodologies
In-depth knowledge of on-prem data center infrastructure environments
Engineering and application delivery expertise
Demonstrated ability to guide and coach engineers
Demonstrated ability in mentoring and developing direct reports
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated excellence in written communications
Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree
13+ years software infrastructure management experience
5+ years leading or managing a team

The annual base pay for this position is: $216,800.00 - $325,200.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
