We are seeking a Field CTO – Federal to serve as a senior technical advisor and strategic partner to customers and internal stakeholders. This role focuses on shaping long-term technology strategy, influencing executive decision-making, and aligning F5 solutions to mission-critical federal initiatives.
The Field CTO partners closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to drive strategic engagements, support high-impact opportunities, and represent F5 as a thought leader across the federal landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of end-to-end solution architectures aligned to customer business goals and technical environments

  • Own the technical strategy for complex and high-value opportunities, supporting deals from discovery through close

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, guiding architecture decisions and long-term technology direction

  • Deliver advanced presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts tailored to executive and technical audiences

  • Influence customer decisions by addressing complex technical challenges and objections

  • Partner with sales, product, and engineering teams to align solutions with market needs and product strategy

  • Develop and nurture relationships with key customers, stakeholders, and technology partners

  • Contribute to solution playbooks, reusable assets, and global enablement initiatives

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other solutions engineers and architects

  • Represent the company externally through thought leadership, industry engagement, or customer forums

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in solutions architecture, pre-sales engineering, or technical consulting

  • Proven ability to lead complex technical engagements and influence customer decisions

  • Strong experience designing enterprise architectures (cloud, security, networking, or related domains)

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and executive audiences

  • Experience working cross-functionally with sales, product, and engineering teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate in ambiguous, high-impact scenarios

  • Deep understanding of modern architectures (cloud, containers, APIs, distributed systems)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large enterprise or strategic accounts

  • Background in cloud, SaaS, cybersecurity, or infrastructure technologies

  • Experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), or similar ecosystems

  • Experience influencing product direction or contributing to go-to-market strategies

The annual base pay for this position is: $266,200.00 - $399,400.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business.
