The Senior Software Engineer plays a key role in building enterprise applications for F5’s Infrastructure Engineering Data Team.

The Senior Engineer is a leader who continually looks for ways to improve our solutions, architects, and builds data-driven solutions that empower teams across the organization to make better, faster decisions.

You will be an active engaged participant in leading the design and development of an enhanced telemetry pipeline, enhancing performance and operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction for scalable and secure data pipeline systems, defining what “good” looks like and championing best practices and design patterns.
  • Foster a human-first engineering culture by leading with empathy, kindness, and integrity in day-to-day interactions and decision-making.
  • Build collaboration across teams and functions to drive alignment on outcomes and unblock systemic issues that slow delivery or reduce quality.
  • Own software components end-to-end, raising standards for functional excellence, scale, performance, security and operability, and leaving systems measurably better than you found.
  • Multiply team impact through technical leadership and mentoring, uplifting engineering judgement, design quality, and execution habits.
  • Recommend, establish and maintain technical design methodologies and processes to raise quality and reduce risk, challenging the status quo when needed.
  • Drive quality improvements by implementing automated testing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain quality gates for continuous integration and continuous deployment.
  • Independently investigate, present options, review, and implement completely new functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure high quality project delivery.
  • Drive increased development velocity and capability by leveraging AI coding agents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Be Kind.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 6+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Expertise with any combination of programming languages: Golang, Java, Python, Scala, C++ or any high-level proprietary or open-source language with strong programming constructs. Expertise in building and operating high-scale data pipelines
  • Strong background with SQL or NoSQL databases and performance tuning.
  • Strong experience with distributed compute technologies, such as Flink, Spark, EMR
  • Familiarity with system observability and monitoring.
  • Hands on experience with Docker and Kubernetes as well as developing applications using microservices architecture with Cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
  • Strong interpersonal, team-building, and mentoring skills. Ability to independently work across team boundaries and own projects.
  • Ability to guide team members on technical aspects.
  • Implementation experience with Machine Learning models and AI techniques for improved decision making.

Preferred

  • Experience with PromQL, Tableau, and/or Grafana.

The annual base pay for this position is: $161,600.00 - $242,400.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
