Job Description – Hardware Validation Team Software Development Engineer II
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, results-driven, problem-solver to join our on-site Spokane team as a Software Development Engineer II. What You Will Do:
- Drive end-to-end testing for software and hardware applications, including PCA and system-level testing. Execute test plans and scripts in accordance with QA standards to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery.
- Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test cases and scripts for new features. Research and implement emerging test technologies and methodologies to optimize testing efficiency and product reliability.
- Write, debug, and implement code for features and APIs using relevant programming languages. Participate in design and code reviews to ensure all solutions align with architectural vision and stability requirements.
- Perform PCA and system testing of new products, as well as new releases of existing products. PCA and system testing may include internal F5 test suites for quality assurance as well as manufacturing test plans performed internally for debug and on the manufacturing line for prototype development in preparation for the production manufacturing test team.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Support teams to communicate test findings, troubleshoot complex issues, and translate project requirements into actionable test strategies.
- Gathers and analyzes test data to generate build reports and bug documentation. Develop process manuals, procedural standards, and test requirements to guide team members and external developers.
- Deliver internal and external presentations to project leaders and stakeholders.
- Support senior engineers on complex tasks and participate in the hiring and onboarding of new team members.
- Uphold corporate business ethics and comply with all company policies and assigned activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Solid understanding of OOP principles, software development, and unit testing
- Proficient in at least one high-level programming language
- Linux and practical knowledge of shell (BASH) scripting
- Experience with Git
- Experience with JSON APIs over HTTP/REST.
- Outstanding problem-solving and debugging skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with Docker/containers
- Experience with Databases such as MongoDB, Postgres, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
- Experience with UX Design
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with building Tableau workbooks and visualizations
- Experience with configuration management and deployment automation tools such as Kubernetes, Nomad, Ansible, etc.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus and other infrastructure & application monitoring tools
- Experience with PCA or System Level MFG Test.
- Solid knowledge and experience with test methodologies used in Hardware Test.
- Proficiency in creating and tracking bugs and issues and following up with verification of resolutions.
- UNIX/Linux experience preferred.
- Solid analytic / trouble-shooting skills.
- Successfully manages ambiguity with limited direction.
- Demonstrates proficiency in both written and verbal communications.
- Strong networking experience and understanding of Server Architectures.
- Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
- Demonstrates emerging leadership qualities; can lead small group interaction.
Requirements
- BS/BA in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of software development and engineering experience.
- 2+ years of professional experience in a Linux/UNIX environment.

The annual base pay for this position is: $104,000.00 - $156,000.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
