Position Summary

This position is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of key internal engineering tools and services. Designs, codes, tests and delivers new/modified functionality. Perform as an individual contributor and collaborate with peers under the direction of technical leads on assigned project teams. Requires little direct management to complete the majority of development tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and implement major components of internal engineering tools and services
  • Research, investigate and define new areas of technology to enhance existing offerings or new product directions
  • Evaluate performance of products; tune, re-evaluate the design and implementation of current source code
  • Document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents
  • Conduct presentations internal and external
  • May participate in hiring and onboarding process
  • Collaborate with team members and technical leads
  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good experience and knowledge of Linux networking.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols, architecture, and technologies (HTTP(S), TCP/IP, ...).
  • Strong understanding and deploying in major cloud marketplaces including using Terraform
  • 4+ years programming experience (preferably with MySQL, Perl, Golang, Python, C)
  • Other key skills preferred include knowledge and usage of Git, K8s, DPDK and OpenSSL
  • Full stack development experience (database, backend, frontend)
  • Excellent analytic / troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Successfully manage ambiguity in work.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications
  • Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment
  • Demonstrates emerging leadership qualities. Serves as de facto lead in small group interaction.
  • Can design and implement new functionality in multiple feature areas, while developing subject matter expertise in at least one.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree of Computer Science or a closely related field
  • 5-6 years programming experience in at least one of these languages (Go, Perl, Python)
  • Programming experience in MySQL programming
  • Proficiency in Linux OS environment
  • Knowledge and experience with IP networking (including routing and switching), knowledge of TCP/IP stack of protocols
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift
  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and project management tools (e.g. Git, Gitlab, Jira, Bugzilla, etc) is preferred
