Sr Software Engineer – UI

Position Summary
F5’s Distributed Cloud platform enables businesses to deploy, secure, and operate applications across public clouds, private data centers, and the edge. We are seeking a Senior UI Engineer to design and build intuitive, high-performing, and accessible user experiences for our platform.

In this role, you will work closely with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to deliver engaging, scalable, and maintainable UI solutions that empower our customers to manage complex distributed systems with ease. You will have ownership in translating product requirements into front-end architecture, writing clean, efficient code, and mentoring other engineers in UI best practices.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain modern, responsive UI components for the Distributed Cloud platform.

  • Collaborate with UX designers and product managers to deliver user interfaces that are both functional and visually compelling.

  • Partner with backend engineers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless data flow between front-end and backend systems.

  • Establish and maintain front-end architecture standards, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.

  • Drive adoption of best practices in accessibility, testing, and UI performance optimization.

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership in UI development.

  • Stay up to date on emerging UI frameworks, tools, and trends, and recommend their adoption when beneficial.

  • Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and team-wide technical decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience building modern web applications with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.

  • Deep expertise with React.js (or similar frameworks) and state management libraries such as Redux, MobX, or Recoil.

  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL into production-grade UI applications.

  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), and cross-browser compatibility.

  • Proficiency with build tools and front-end workflows (Webpack, Babel, npm, Yarn).

  • Familiarity with UI testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex workflows into intuitive interfaces.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building enterprise-scale SaaS UIs or platforms for technical users.

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed system concepts.

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with design systems and component libraries at scale (Storybook, Material UI, etc.).
