F5 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer, Software to join our dynamic team in India. In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the quality and reliability of our flagship Big-IP product line through comprehensive testing, advanced automation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the testing and validation of new and existing Big-IP features, encompassing the creation of robust test strategies and detailed test plans based on feature specifications and requirements.
- Design, implement, enhance, and maintain automated test suites, primarily utilizing Python for extensive test automation.
- Execute and diligently monitor the progress of automation runs, meticulously investigating and triaging test failures.
- Collaborate closely with product development engineers to pinpoint and isolate defects, enhance engineering documentation, and continuously improve product quality.
- Take ownership of qualifying Big-IP features and work seamlessly with cross-functional teams to uphold and elevate quality standards.
- Perform in-depth analysis to define, refine, and manage test methodologies, tools, utilities, and system structures, providing crucial technical input into project scope and estimation activities.
- Actively participate in Solution QA, including investigating customer cases, mimicking customer deployments, and analysing real-world traffic patterns to ensure robust and reliable solutions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive test automation experience in Python, including proficiency with testing frameworks like Pytest or Unittest, and developing robust, scalable, and maintainable automation frameworks from scratch.
- A strong understanding and hands-on experience with UI test automation, particularly using Selenium, including handling dynamic web elements, alerts, windows, and frames.
- Proven expertise in API testing, including strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, tools like Postman or Insomnia, and automating API test cases using Python.
- Solid experience with various test methodologies used in software development (e.g., unit, integration, system, regression, performance, security testing).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and identifying complex issues.
- A collaborative team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of Linux networking and OS internals, including troubleshooting and debugging on Linux environments.
- Demonstrated experience with CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps), including designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and branching strategies.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker for test environment setup and execution.
- Knowledge of reporting and logging mechanisms within automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Allure reports).
- Familiarity with emerging AI tools for testing and an understanding of their potential application in enhancing test strategies
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, load balancing, firewalls, network security and protocols such as TCP, UDP, IP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, and FTP.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, or OpenStack for deploying and testing virtual network functions and Big-IP solutions.
- Basic knowledge of cloud networking concepts (e.g., VPC, VNet, security groups) in public clouds like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting, diagnostic tools and traffic analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark).
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor of Engineering in ECE/Computers or 10+ years of experience with ME/MTech in ECE/Computers.
- Excellent organizational agility and interpersonal skills throughout the organization.
- Ability to work flexible hours for better collaboration with International teams.
