We are seeking Principal Software Engineer - API Security to help design and develop our industry-leading API Security product, which protects customers from API-based attacks. In this role, you will take ownership of security-related features end-to-end - from problem analysis and design through research to implementation, deployment, and optimization. The ideal candidate will have deep API Security expertise, the ability to analyze and act on large-scale data, and the versatility to deliver robust, scalable solutions independently in a SaaS environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the full lifecycle of security features for the API Security product, including design, research, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Develop detection algorithms and systems for identifying API-specific attacks.
  • Collaborate with multiple global teams, including product management, SRE, and other engineering teams, to refine requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Maintain services updated with the latest Docker images, packages, and security best practices, aligned with SRE guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot issues in complex, multi-service architectures and collaborate across global teams to resolve them.

Job Requirements:

  • End-to-End Ownership: Demonstrated ability to deliver complex features from conception to deployment and ongoing improvement with minimal supervision.
  • Programming Proficiency: Expert in at least two programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, Kotlin, or C), with a preference for Kotlin and Go.
  • SaaS and Cloud Environments: Proficient with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and modern SaaS application architectures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful results.

Significant Advantage:

  • API Security Expertise: Strong knowledge of the API Security domain, threat detection techniques, and experience in data research. (strong advantage)
  • Data Technologies: Spark Databases, Databricks, Kafka, SQL, Pandas Dataframes, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in software engineering, preferably with proven expertise in API Security and end-to-end system delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
