Role Summary

We are seeking dynamic leadership to build, develop and manage the technical talent that will enable Technology Services to deliver on F5’s strategic missions and promises. Your product is the talent that will drive our company forward.

In this role you will lead a team of Systems and Site Reliability Engineers focusing on ensuring that our engineering delivery teams have the right people in the right places, building for future needs, and fostering new skills in sync with business needs. You will partner with key stakeholders throughout the organization to drive business growth and cultivate a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and ongoing improvement.

What you’ll do

  • Use your knowledge and experience to coalesce an Infrastructure-as-a-service offering within TS.
  • Build DevOps practices, and principles: collaboration, automation, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and infrastructure as code (IaC), into the day-to-day functions of the teams you lead.
  • Align with Solution Owners, Value Stream Leads, Product and Program managers, and others across different levels of leadership to ensure workstream talent needs are addressed and proactively planned for.
  • Design and execute strategies to support career growth, including training programs, mentorship initiatives, development plans, goal setting and performance feedback mechanisms.
  • Conduct regular talent management practices, leaning into the continuous development of employees' skills, interests, and aspirations to identify opportunities for advancement.
  • Create a positive and supportive learning-oriented environment that encourages employees to develop new skills, acquire knowledge, and explore career pathways.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration among team members to enhance their professional development.
  • Regularly analyze data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven recommendations to enhance the career development framework.
  • Foster an innovation culture by encouraging and supporting new ideas, providing opportunities for experimentation and learning, and recognizing and rewarding creativity and innovation.
  • Being a champion and advocate for engineering excellence and ensuring that the standards, guidance, and ways of working are adopted and adhered to.
  • Leverage your partnership with our Talent Acquisition capability to attract and hire well qualified and talented employees.
  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven ability to elevate the capabilities of a technical team through skill development initiatives.
  • An aptitude for understanding and executing a future vision.
  • Showcase excellent social, planning, documentation, and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated experience, building and leading infrastructure teams operating a mix of Windows and Linux environments plus storage, compute, virtualization, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, PKI, etc.
  • Broad understanding of Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies (e.g., cloud computing, infrastructure, DevOps, software development), as well as Platform-as-a-Service, and Software-as-a-Service (Microsoft 365).
  • Develop meaningful OKRs and other types of telemetry to measure and track team and system performance.
  • Ability to scale teams, processes, and systems to meet business demands.
  • Knowledge of IT best practices, such as security protocols, system architecture, and operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with modern tools and frameworks (e.g., Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Use of ITSM standards and standard methodology for implementation in an IT environment. Primary examples include change management, problem management, incident management, patching and vulnerability management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and inspire teams.
  • Excellent communication (fluency in English language) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with Solution Owners, Engineering Directors and other key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Possess a strong understanding of software development life cycle, lean agile principles.
  • Willingness to lead global and cross geography reporting teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or engineering, or equivalent software engineering work experience.
  • Experience in leading teams through technology transformations a plus.
  • 8+ years IT management experience required.
  • No restrictions on the ability to travel to domestic & international locations.
