Position Summary

Engineering is a core discipline at F5 for many roles. As a software engineer specializing in products and services, you will bring a modern, agile development mindset to your work.

As an SDE-III, you will be responsible for developing, configuring, and enhancing software applications and services. Incorporating engineering best practices into the design, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and support of software and service solutions, you will work with other engineers and other teams to develop novel solutions and technologies.

What You’ll Do

  • Apply modern engineering principles and practices to solution delivery and employ this rigor throughout the full software lifecycle; from initial concept and architecture through deployment, as well as while refining existing systems and solutions.

  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and collaborate with fellow engineers to devise innovative solutions that align with technical standards and business requirements.

  • Follow engineering best practices, including all phases of the process from design to deployment.

  • Design, build, and maintain medium to complex solutions with a security first mindset.

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ServiceNow solutions across multiple modules, including but not limited to CMDB, CSDM, ITOM (including Cloud Discovery), Event Management, Software and Hardware Asset Management, IRM and Cloud Cost Optimization.

  • Ensure seamless integration of ServiceNow with other enterprise systems.

  • Configure and customize workflows, forms, scripts, and notifications to support business processes.

  • Implement and maintain the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) framework to ensure data consistency and alignment.

  • Manage the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

  • Leverage ITOM and Event Management to proactively monitor infrastructure and address service health issues.

  • Develop solutions for effective Software and Hardware Asset Management, ensuring compliance and optimal usage.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement Cloud Cost Optimization strategies, reducing unnecessary expenditures.

  • Conduct system upgrades and patches while ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior team members and guiding best practices.

  • Stay current with ServiceNow updates and trends, recommending enhancements to improve platform performance.

  • Assist in team growth, including recruitment and onboarding of new team members.

  • Participate and provide leadership in translating requirements into scalable and robust software designs.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to SDE community to ensure that the solutions are scalable, performant, and maintainable

  • Proactively seek out opportunities for architectural improvements, optimizations, and innovations.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years engineering experience in supporting or implementing ServiceNow

  • Experience with the areas or modules of CMDB, ITOM (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management), Software Asset Management, and Hardware Asset Management. Preferred additional experience with IRM, Advanced Risk Management, Cloud Spend Management

  • Proven ability to develop and deliver software solutions.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and expertise in CMDB, CSDM, ITOM, Event Management, Asset Management, and Cloud Cost Optimization modules.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, ServiceNow’s scripting language, and other development tools such as Flow Designer, Integration Hub and UI Builder

  • Experience in API integrations using REST/SOAP and other middleware technologies.

  • Strong understanding of ITIL principles and practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist certifications in relevant modules.

  • Familiarity with enterprise cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
