Position Summary
This Software Engineer-II position will be part of BIG-IP Next Central Manager System/DevOps team. This position is responsible for the design, development and implementation of current and future CI/CD pipelines, test automation framework, infrastructure management, scale & performance and much more. Designs, develops and maintains high-quality code for complex product components, supporting Central Manager organization. Manages assigned projects independently and may serve as technical expert for issues associated with specific projects. May assist Principal, Sr. Principal and Architects to detail certain aspects of product design.
Primary Responsibilities
Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions for assigned projects by identifying, resolving and mitigating risk and communicating to stakeholders
Provides technical solutions to detail certain aspects of product design and ensures that resulting design specification fits into technical architectural framework.
Performs analysis to define design requirements for modification to existing tools, utilities, system structures, environments and provide technical input into project scope and estimating activities
Recommends and maintains technical design methodologies, processes and standards
Provides technical guidance to lower-level engineers
Assist Principal Engineers and Management with project scope
Consistently meet commitments
Assisting and driving customer solutions
Participates in hiring and onboarding process
Conducts presentations internally and externally
Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge and extensive experience with relevant platform technologies
Strong analytic / trouble-shooting skills.
Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced high-performance environment with a lot of stakeholders, from different domains, in different geo-locations.
Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications.
Demonstrated excellence in design and problem solving
Excellent knowledge in microservices architecture.
Have an in-depth multi-disciplined knowledge of Virtualization, Storage, Compute, Network, DevOps technologies and latest cutting-edge technologies.
Hypervisors – OpenStack, OpenShift, VMware, KVM, Xen, Hyper-V, and AHV
Multi-cloud – AWS, Azure, GCP, DevOps Operations
Excellent coding capabilities in the following languages: Golang, Java, Python or equivalent.
Hands on knowledge in building and deploying Go modules.
Excellent knowledge in CI/CD pipelines - gitlab, Jenkins pipelines.
Excellent knowledge of Kubernetes environment. Including: MicroK8s, k8s or minikube environments; K8s – deployments, services, configmaps, ingress and etc; Building and deploying helm charts.
Excellent knowledge of Docker environment. Including: Dockerfile creation, docker registry, docker-compose creation and administration.
Hands on experience with source control tools, such as: Git, Preforce, etc.
Hands on experience with Terraform, Ansible
Hands on experience with both rational and NoSql DB’s, including PosgreSQL, ElasticSearch.
Deep understanding of system Testing and hands on experience with scale and performance testing
Understanding of networking concepts and protocols
Understanding of security concepts and transport layer security (SSL/TLS)
Extensive knowledge of product life cycle.
Must be a Subject Matter Expert in multiple skill areas.
Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
Qualifications
Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 2-3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 2-3 years’ experience or equivalent experience.
