We are looking for a Sr Principal Software Engineer or Software Architect to join our Data engineering team to accelerate data platform and data and telemetry missions in the F5 Distributed Cloud Platform Group.
As a critical member of the Distributed Cloud Data engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the architecture, design and development of the data systems and data services for the new landscape of F5 SaaS products.
Responsibilities
- Build F5 Distributed Cloud data system and management systems.
- Innovate/ design/ develop data, analytics, AI/Gen AI powered service on SaaS platform.
- Architect/ design/develop telemetry and metrics pipeline and services.
- As a subject-matter expert on data system, AI/ ML (Machine Learning), cloud service, networking, and security, work closely with product, marketing, operation, platform, and customer support team to create innovative solution for Cloud and SaaS product delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or above, Graduate degree preferred) in computer science or equivalent professional experience (Principal level with 10+ years, Architect level with 14+ years).
- Extensive experience in Data Engineering and SaaS products with principal or architect roles.
- Experience in data system, data services, observability, telemetry architecture for cloud services.
- Proficiency in Cloud service development and programming languages such as GO, Java, Python, C++, Rust, WASM.
- Deep knowledge and experience with data/ stream processing (e.g., Kafka, Pubsub, Dataflow, Vector), database and data warehouse (e.g., ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, Big Query, Redis).
- Experience with data driven, ML/AI, Generative AI powered applications in security, networking, telemetry, AI/BI, product growth and engineering productivity.
- Experience with logging, metrics, tracing, Prometheus, Open Telemetry, and pipeline.
- Experience with data system quality, monitoring, and performance.
- Experience in SaaS multi-tenancy, onboarding, metering & billing, monitoring & alerting.
- Experience with container and orchestration technologies, Kubernetes and Microservice.
- Experience with automation and cloud Infra, tooling, workload, modern CI/CD.

The annual base pay for this position is: $207,279.00 - $310,919.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
