Overview: This project manager will be an integral part of the Business Operations team within the Office of the Chief Marketing Officer. The team is responsible for driving clarity, visibility, and alignment on high priority projects, processes and the rhythm of business (RoB) for the entirety of the Worldwide Marketing organization. In addition to actively owning and driving critical projects across strategy planning, communications, team enablement, AI adoption, and more, this team maintains a relentless focus on continuous improvement to drive efficient and low friction processes for our customers inside F5. Team members regularly engage across the different functions, roles, and seniority levels across F5.
A successful business operations project manager is skilled in the fundamental capabilities of project management with respect to scoping, planning, organizing, problem solving, and risk mitigation. The project manager also brings rare skills in leadership, analysis, critical thinking, strategic storytelling, risk mitigation, creativity, and communications. As a project manager on this team, you will play a pivotal part in driving clarity and accountability across the organization and be responsible for facilitating the development of Marketing’s annual strategic plan. You will be comfortable presenting to senior executives, meeting tight deadlines, and working with ambiguity. The successful candidate will be organized, detail oriented, an impeccable communicator, and have a passion for collaboration.
Areas of focus:
- Strengthen the link between business planning, budget planning, and tactical implementation planning including driving the annual strategic planning process for the Marketing organization.
- Support the Office of the Chief Marketing Officer in the development, communication, and execution of strategic and operational accountabilities. Partner closely with Business Operations lead and Marketing leadership team to align accountabilities across teams and organization. This role specifically leads the Marketing strategic planning process and annual budget and investment planning. Additionally, this role supports ongoing governance and reporting mechanisms to ensure successful execution of our strategic plans.
- Design and lead effective senior leadership-level meetings to communicate status and coordinate actionable efforts. Facilitate strategic planning with senior leadership teams and drive regular cross functional standups to evaluate and disposition emergent issues.
- Create visibility, clarity, and alignment across Marketing leadership. Partner with functional leaders to ensure teams are aligned and accountable on highly collaborative strategic and operational priority items. Act as air traffic control while also rolling up your sleeves to support tactical elements of the projects at hand.
- Design, build and maintain project plans including scope and objectives, schedule, budget and risk management. Handle the gathering of project requirements and project scope in a holistic manner across multiple teams or business functions. Collaborate with peers, manager and team members across the organization to solve problems, develop new processes and coordinate work.

Organizational Interlocks:
This position requires high collaboration and functional interlocks across global marketing leaders, brand and content strategy, solutions marketing, integrated marketing, field marketing, finance, HR, procurement, and executive staff. Robust communication skills, including both written and oral, and a high emotional intelligence are critical.
- Coordinate closely with the Business Ops lead and CMO to maintain smooth operations of marketing department
- Work with partners in finance to ensure a fiscally responsible operational approach
- Have a real passion for and consistent track record for execution with measurable results in dynamic, energizing environment
- May require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends)
Success Metrics:
- Increase in alignment between Marketing’s annual business plans and tactical go to market plans
- Increase in alignment and on-time accountabilities, through predictable rhythm of business and work-back schedules and tracking
- High level of trust, transparency, and alignment across the organization
- Increased visibility and accountability for high-priority projects within the organization
- Successful project and program completion within a timely manner
- Reduced organizational churn through proactive planning and communication
Background/ Experience:
- Minimum 6 years’ experience managing projects at technology-based companies with strong cross-functional experience
- Minimum 3 years working with functional budgets, P&Ls and investment requests.
- Proven experience managing/tracking multiple projects in a highly engaged employee environment
- Proven experience creating and delivering professional presentations to a wide variety of audiences including senior executives
- Knowledge or certification in F5 products/solutions is a plus
- Lean/Six Sigma green belt and/or project management certification is helpful
- BA or Bachelor of Science degree required
- MBA is a plus

The annual base pay for this position is: $96,720.00 - $145,080.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
