Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced hands-on Manager, Engineering, to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in leading our efforts to build a scalable Config and Control-Plane as we onboard both internal and external customers on F5 Distributed Cloud’s Infrastructure. You will be obsessing over reliability and performance of our systems through innovative development practices. Your primary focus will be on driving the development work within the F5 Distributed Cloud’s(F5xC) Config and Control-Plane team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Define and manage project plans and deliverables for the team.

  • Work with product managers to define the product roadmap.

  • Design and provide technical guidance for control plane and config plane software on F5XC.

  • Understand the scalability dimension of a large-scale distributed platform and software accordingly.

  • Follow software development lifecycle for feature development i.e. design, develop, test and support along with planning.

  • Work with geographically distributed teams.

Qualifications

  • Experienced team lead and/or management.

  • Extensive software engineering experience with focus on microservice architectures.

  • Excellent organizational agility and communication skills.

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 8+ years of software development experience building high scale microservices.

  • Proficient in programming languages such as C++ and Golang

  • Good understanding and experience in L2 to L7 networking protocols including but not limited to Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLAN, BGP, HTTP/2.

  • Experience with implementing, designing and debugging control plane routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF etc., is a definite plus.

  • Experience with gRPC framework and google protobuf

  • Working knowledge of Virtualization technologies like KVM, Docker etc.

  • Working knowledge of Cloud orchestration systems such as Kubernetes etc.

  • Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g., Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute etc.) is a plus.
