Position summary

The Distributed Cloud (XC), Senior Director of Solutions Engineering – is an EMEA leadership role, responsible for managing a team of customer-facing Solutions Engineers and reporting to the XC Vice President, Solutions Engineering - while working closely with the XC Director, Sales EMEA.

We are seeking a people-focused leader and a technical sales professional with the capability of mentoring and developing a continually evolving team. As part of the Distributed Cloud team, you will use your business insight and technical knowledge to develop regional and EMEA-level strategies for revenue growth. You will be responsible for the readiness of the team to sell Distributed Cloud products and solutions and will utilise your network of business relationships to drive collaboration and achieve a broad range of business goals and regional initiatives.

Primary responsibilities

  • Directing, leading and driving XC’s European solution engineering team: This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations, assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving mentorship to staff, conducting performance improvement plans, taking disciplinary action, and recruiting.
  • Define an organisational operating model and technical strategy. Help define the headcount plan and drive recruiting efforts to back the regional business plan.
  • Own and execute the EMEA SE Team initiatives. Collaborating with the VP SE, define a development path for each SE in the team. This will include training and certification.
  • Define and drive the SME program within the region and EMEA, to develop expertise in F5 technologies and solutions.
  • Collaborate with Regional Sales Leadership to prioritise and target team opportunities; review quantitative information to identify and explain trends. Align resources to meet commitments and achieve results.
  • Build a technical resource plan for the region in collaboration with the Sales RVP and incorporating mapping sales teams to SE resources.
  • Assist with defining the compensation plans based on regional goals; work with Sales Leadership and Finance to define quarterly budget.
  • Participate in, and contribute to all regular sales forecasts and pipeline reviews. Contribute to QBRs and Management Meetings.
  • Provide guidance to all BU members on tech trends in the industry, and how to best address them based on current and future portfolio. Lead the collection and organisation of field level product feedback in EMEA and actively participate in feedback delivery to product management teams.
  • Establish and implement the process of technical assessment and strategy and competitive positioning including documented installed base analysis for all named accounts.
  • Work actively with F5 colleagues to define a strategy with F5 Solution Engineering VP and F5 XC Sales VP.
  • Assist Channel Director in building their strategy and qualifying partners. Provide assistance to the Marketing team in delivering technical content and choosing events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • An excellent record of supporting technical sales of enterprise network solutions/enterprise software to corporate accounts including substantial experience of heading up a technical sales engineering team in a vendor.
  • Experience of leading and coaching a technical team, both in-country and remotely located, and the associated processes of running a region.
  • Strong leadership skills including people development. Ability to influence others to work towards a common goal is critical.
  • Communicate a clear vision and strategy for the account that inspires and empowers the team to execute within a common framework.
  • Establish collaborative relationships built on trust and commitment. Develop relationships at multiple levels both internally with the team and colleagues and within customer accounts.
  • Understand the value of standard methodologies and apply best practices and other tools to drive business results.
  • Build the capabilities needed to deliver on the team's short and long term goal, including identification and development of a strong pipeline of the best talent from both internal and external candidate pools.
  • Clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas, including executive communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced understanding of API gateway and API development/management and application security in relation to modern applications a plus.
  • Understanding of ADC marketplace.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
