Position Summary

  • We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to help design and implement a variety of stream and data processing features for the F5 Distributed Cloud Platform, starting with its' Global Log Receiver (GLR). GLR is the backbone of our customer's compliance needs. This is an opportunity to design, build, and support a component of a SaaS platform. The team also supports a variety of infrastructure that supports GLR, such as Apache Kafka.

  • The team you are on has experience running data platforms at large scale. You will also have a role in the design and implementation of systems that will efficiently process and store hundreds of thousands of messages per second.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads development of code and integration of complex components into a fully functional system, including leading the process of documenting and maintaining architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs.

  • Drives ongoing efficiency and reliability improvements through design and automation (availability, performance, scaling, monitoring, and capacity)

  • Partners with Product Managers and other Engineers to discuss and define requirements and acceptance criteria; identifies and proposes process improvements to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.

  • Guides and mentors other engineers to deliver well-tested, observable, documented, efficient, scalable, and resilient solutions.

  • Represents the team in cross organizational Engineering meetings as a recognized Subject Matter Expert for one or more technical topics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 5 years of coding experience with Golang

  • Familiarity and experience operating publish and subscribe systems such as Apache Kafka

  • Direct experience running a customer-facing service in production

  • Understanding of a microservices-based architecture/deployment, using Kubernetes or other deployment methodology

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly debugging complex distributed systems in a variety of languages

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications

Qualifications

  • Typically, requires at least 8+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 6+ year and a master’s degree, or a PhD with 4+ year of experience or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent organizational agility and communication skills throughout the organization.
