Sr Director of Engineering – Central Manager

Central Manager is orchestration engine or management plane for our next generation BIG-IP product. BIG-IP is core to what F5 does. It is a required part of BIG-IP Next Gen. You will be responsible for over-seeing a significant part of the CM portfolio. This position will oversee Life cycle management and Application management of Central Manager. Applications are at the heart of Big-IP. This position reports into the VP of Engineering and works closely with Product Management. The core of this role is to help engineers and engineering managers to get stuff done in a way that delights our customers!

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with the PM to understand product roadmap and build a corresponding technical roadmap.
  • Build, manage and mentor your organization to deliver to this roadmap. Enrich your team/(s) talent as applicable to build diverse, well balanced, high performing teams
  • Set technical and strategic direction for your engineering teams.
  • Develop and modify our processes and methods, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate communication upward and across project teams.
  • Research, analyze, and monitor new technologies in our industry to capitalize on opportunities.

Must-have’s

  • Deep knowledge of the SDLC and building and fostering strong, high performing engineering teams. Data driven in how you drive your teams and performance.
  • Lead and mentor teams with Sr talent.
  • Knowledge in building management platforms
  • Knowledgeable in Kubernetes and micro-services
  • Knowledgeable in building services in the cloud
  • Understand thinking in terms of customer workflows, central manager is the face of the customer.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, including Sr talent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership/mentoring abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to adopt to new processes, ideas, and concepts.
  • Self-directed/self-motivated.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or other technical field: with 10+ years of experience in Sr Management roles; or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of people management inclusive of Sr talent

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $239,854.00 - $359,782.00
