Position Summary:

The F5 Security Intelligence Center (SIC) team is seeking a remote based senior software engineer to support the team's data engineering and tooling initiatives. The team is looking for a self-driven, analytical, creative and highly motivated professional who is looking to take on new challenges supporting the software engineering needs of the SIC. The SIC team is comprised of experienced security research professionals and data scientists that are passionate about security and pushing the envelope on what is possible by innovating new tools, analytical processes and product concepts.

This role requires the ability to be self-motivated while also managing collaboration with numerous teams across F5, including IT, security, data infrastructure, engineering, product management and the SIC team. The role will involve working on multiple projects and initiatives across the team, making excellent time and project management skills essential. So, if you have a passion for software engineering and taking innovative concepts and ideas into tangible software applications and APIs, then this is the role for you. You will get to work with an amazing team on important initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

Support and maintain the Security Analytics Platform (a Flask-based tooling platform used to publish tools and APIs to a broader audience)
Develop new tools and APIs using MVP models and code developed by teammates
Administer Google cloud projects, IAM and service accounts in accordance with internal security policies
Support Web development for F5 Labs’ website working with site owner and admin
Cloud Infrastructure Management:

Ensuring Cloud environments are compliant with internal security policies
Extracting, transforming and loading data into and exporting out of our cloud environment
Ensuring data quality
Managing cloud utilization to minimize cloud costs
Serve as admin and point of contact for cloud environments
Support ad hoc data requests or queries from the team

Using automation to simplify the creation and management of databases

Create tools, both for internal use and sharing with customers and the broader cyber security community
Work independently and maintain a data-driven approach to delivering results

Qualifications

BA/BS degree with 8+ years of experience or equivalent work experience
Masters or advanced degree advantageous
5+ years of software development or engineering experience
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (infrastructure, architecture, IAM, BigQuery, Colab and Cloud Storage)
Ability to work on both front and back-end web development with working knowledge of web development (HTML, CSS, Adobe Experience Manager, JavaScript, jQuery, React, Node.js, and Tailwind CSS)
Knowledge and experience working in Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Flask and React
Proficiency in data visualization and creating dashboards
Comfortable with web REST APIs (using and creating them)
General Linux admin/user skills
Excellent and creative problem-solving ability
Strong interpersonal, time management, and project management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage complex workflows with minimal supervision
Demonstrated enthusiasm and capacity to quickly learn new technologies and areas of knowledge
