A Technical Program Manager (TPM) has the fundamental capabilities with respect to planning, organizing, communicating and problem solving. A TPM also brings unique skills in leadership, analysis, critical thinking, conflict resolution and management and risk management.
You will be responsible for the development of project plans and for monitoring the execution of the project per scope, schedule and budget, managing multiple priorities and developing recovery strategies for projects that stray from their plan.
The unique benefit provided by this role is the reduction of risk through better analysis, decision making, planning and monitoring of projects and programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with the various Feature teams and associated Dev, SRE, QA, Ops, Trust, Docs teams to help with backlog management and on-time project delivery
Act as a bridge between product, product engineering and rest of the organization.
Identify areas for process improvements, initiate discussions to achieve consensus and work with various teams to implement agreed items.
Document new process and changes to existing processes
Investigate and understand industry's standard practices for SDLC. Help with requirements definition and track status of implementation across projects
Work with peers, managers and team members to alleviate project bottlenecks and escalate the need to resolve issues when executive support is required.
Drive release planning meetings and experience from moving teams from waterfall to Agile environment
Apply Scrum or Kanban techniques and be able to fill in as a Scrum Master and/or PO
Familiarity with epic/story writing, use case mapping
Monitor progress to plan and design a recovery strategy if project deviates from baseline plan;
Conduct retrospectives on completed projects to support process, policy and tool-set improvements;
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively across written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal formats to audiences ranging from engineer to Executive;
Lead through influence to drive forward both the team and program. Understands the concept of servant Leadership
Ability to lead and facilitate team meetings and initiatives to effectively develop plans and achieve goals
Solid understanding of technology companies or domains and the interplay between Marketing, Product Development, Manufacturing, Customer Support, Sales and Professional Services;
Sophisticated knowledge on Agile Scrum methodologies
Scrum Master/Product Owner certification/experience preferred
Requires proficiency in one or more Project Management tools, preferably tools used in Agile development (Gitlab, JIRA, etc.) as well as Confluence, Office Apps, and Microsoft Excel.
Must excel in conflict resolution, negotiation, and people management.
Proactive – ability to take initiative in identifying and solving large problems
Ability to navigate ambiguity, work independently under pressure, prioritize, can handle multiple projects and stay focused in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
BS/BA in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
Worked in an engineering capacity in a security/networking field a plus
Minimum 8+ years’ experience (6+ years with Master’s Degree) managing projects at technology-based companies or technical domains;
