Position Summary

F5 is looking for a Principal Data Visualization Engineer to join our creative team of UI developers and designers. This role centers around enhancing Unovis, our platform-independent data visualization library developed with TypeScript and D3.

Unovis empowers data visualization interfaces across a broad spectrum of F5 services on our advanced platform F5 Distributed Cloud, as well as other products throughout F5. This includes regular charts, maps, network graphs, and other diagrams.

You need to have a deep understanding of the theoretical factors involved in communicating information visually. You’re expected to understand the fundamental principles of visual display of information, know why certain visual structures resonate with viewers, and which are the most effective ways to encode information into graphics.

Responsibilities:

Visualize information for networking, machine learning, geospatial, business intelligence and other domains by engineering new data vis components and interfaces for frontend.
Maintain Unovis, our data visualization framework built using D3, SVG, WebGL, Typescript.
Help to promote Unovis within the Open-Source community, encourage outside contributions, and ensure a smooth contribution process.
Engage in collaborative efforts with designers and engineers on defining user interfaces that work effectively both for external and internal customers including general managers, operations, security investigators, data scientists.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in CS or equivalent industry experience.
At least 3 years of experience as a data visualization engineer, with a preference for those who have 8+ years in the web development industry in general.
In-depth knowledge of HTML / CSS / SVG, TypeScript and D3. Three.js / WebGL knowledge is a requirement.
Experience working with frontend frameworks such as Angular or React.
Regardless of the technology used, an understanding of design principles, both graphical and user-centered design, is crucial.

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $191,158.00 - $286,738.00
