Responsible for guiding, augmenting and extending the reach of F5 Security products. The role requires an individual with strong leadership, partnering and analytical abilities, who can lead a team and build a shared vision for F5’s security direction; foster a vibrant ecosystem to deliver security products on top of the F5's multiple platform; help to build products from existing ideas; and help to develop new insights based on industry experience and contact with customers, prospects and partners.
You will work with closely with customers, sales, marketing, product development, professional services and business development to accomplish F5s security product goals. This role will have a large focus on delivering security products to the F5’s Distributed Cloud SaaS platform.
Primary Responsibilities
Define, communicate, plan and execute the F5 Security vision and strategy; prioritizing, determining resource and allocation needs, strategic development and product strategy and delivering results to senior management. Align that vision with the overall company goals and lead the effort to create product positioning and messaging across the security domain.
Own all product management end-to-end, reporting directly to the across the General Managers for Distributed Cloud, BigIP, and NGINX organizations and managing the product development process from inception to product delivery
Establish and evangelize a clear charter, vision, and product strategy for the F5 security suite of products and technologies; create a decision making framework based on that vision that can be used to evaluate new product opportunities and to make build/buy/partner decisions
Management duties include the supervision of exempt and/or nonexempt level staff. This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations, approving paid time-off (PTO), assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, conducting performance improvement plans, taking disciplinary action, and interviewing candidates for open positions
Deliver web content, whitepapers, and demonstrations to drive customer adoption, and ensure technical marketing alignment with key partners
Lead the definition of next-generation security technologies: lead efforts to identify new target products or markets, working closely with sales to identify and address broad industry trends and new technologies
Own Product Road Map and product launches for F5 security products
Develop and maintain short and long-term security product strategy documents and review with business leaders regularly to ensure strategy and development is in line with top priorities and key business initiatives
Work with regional business leaders to understand the market demands of all the regions to ensure that we meet global needs
Work with other internal groups, most notably Product Development, to deliver on the product strategy
Oversee market research including the competitive landscape to assess and identify customer needs
Establish pricing strategies and work with finance on establishing product gross margin targets
Gather, analyze, and prioritize product and customer requirements
Build and maintain metrics for measuring effectiveness and success
Prepare quarterly management reports, research market conditions and trends in the industry and profitability analysis
Represent F5 security solutions to industry opinion makers, strategic partners and key industry press and analysts
Work with key decision makers in marketing and sales to ensure that the product is correctly communicated to the market
Develop up-sell, cross-sell and customer retention programs and products

Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically

Ability to converse with technical and business personnel fluently
Experience developing relationships with suppliers and co-marketing partners highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and delivery dates consistently
Qualifications
BA/BS in a relevant field, MBA desirable
At least 15 years of experience in product management in the security industry
At least 8 years’ experience managing a team of product managers
Experience in delivering enterprise-grade security products on SaaS at scale

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $261,863.00 - $392,795.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
