Position Summary

A Senior Program Manager has superior capabilities with respect to project management, leadership and risk management. A Senior Program Manager also brings business acumen and a responsively adaptable skill set to successfully manage across a wide range of business domains and high-risk investment initiatives.

A Senior Data Governance Program Manager is responsible for the development of a project/program plan and for monitoring the execution of the project/program per scope, schedule and budget. A Senior Program Manager can manage multiple simultaneous projects or programs that are complex or high-risk and is able to develop recovery strategies for those that stray from their plan.

The unique benefit provided by a Senior Program Manager is the reduction of risk through better analysis, decision making, planning and monitoring of the project or program. A Senior Program Manager is also capable of both managing the project/program and directing the team, when necessary. Unique to the Senior Program Manager would be assignments that are “first of type” or are high-risk.

The focus of the assigned projects is on establishing a comprehensive, enterprise-wide data management function.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement enterprise data governance processes and procedures across F5.

  • Develop program roadmap that includes baseline evaluation and a plan to deliver incremental improvement and maturity

  • Design, build and maintain required project plans including scope, schedule, budget and risk management.

  • Manage the gathering of requirements and scope in a holistic manner across multiple business functions and optimize per constraints.

  • Monitor progress to plan and design a recovery strategy if progress deviates.

  • Assemble and publish effective status reports able to serve a variety of audiences from project team member to Executive leadership

  • Collaborate effectively with Core Data Management, Metadata Management, Enterprise Architects, Tech Services and business stakeholders to deliver exceptional data governance across F5.

  • Design and deliver Executive-level presentations to support governance of high-risk projects.

  • Design and manage effective program meetings to communicate status and coordinate efforts.

  • Look for better and more efficient ways to meet stakeholder expectations

  • Conduct retrospectives to support improvement to process, policy and tools.

  • Collaborate with peers, managers and team members across the organization to design solutions, develop new processes and coordinate work.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively across written, verbal and presentation formats to a variety of audiences from project team member to Executive.

  • Ability to design, document and socialize a charter for “first of kind” efforts

  • Able to apply critical thinking techniques to analyze problems, develop solutions and manage risk

  • Ability to lead the gathering of requirements and identification of scope across a multi-function, geo-dispersed team and optimize them against constraints.

  • Ability to lead through influence to drive forward both the team and program.

  • Ability to manage and facilitate team meetings and initiatives to effectively develop plans and achieve goals.

  • Ability to work cross functionally on large, complex challenges and programs with a high level of ambiguity

  • Ability to develop a schedule using work-breakdown techniques that lead to a defined critical path.

  • Excellent skill at using MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word.

  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science degree

  • Minimum 8-10+ years’ experience managing data-related projects

  • If an internal promotion: Two years of experience inside F5 having successfully led programs to meet scope, schedule and budget.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.

  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.

  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $135,600.00 - $203,400.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
