Position Summary

F5’s Technology Services team is transforming the way we deliver value to our organization. We focus on high-impact solutions, meeting our stakeholders where they are to uncover business needs and deliver results. Our teams go beyond the expected to help F5 move confidently through ambiguity and risk and drive more transformative outcomes.

F5 is seeking an experienced Senior Solution Owner who will lead-from-the-front to deliver ongoing business value through one or more empowered scrum teams. They partner with product management to understand the portfolio and business vision and, in concert with their teams, translate that vision into actionable user stories while leading a multi-functional development team to deliver valuable products on time and on budget. Our Sr Solution Owners are the connection between strategic work becoming actionable output through leading cross functional workstreams. This is a leadership role that is at the core of our delivery model and combines elements of product management, engineering and agile in order to deliver ongoing business value for our stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and work within an agile project governance framework (e.g. establish team cadence, facilitate Scrum events, manage dependencies, issues and risks)

  • Guide and coach, the teams on Scrum and Agile practices consistent with team standards and helping them achieve their commitments and objectives day to day, sprint-to-sprint

  • Facilitate and organize Scrum ceremonies – help the team focus on goals, self-organize to achieve objectives, and ensure they fully understand the objectives and commitments

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts with teams by implementing take-aways from retrospectives and implementing concrete solutions to make the teams more efficient and improve delivery success

  • Be the functional and subject matter authority for the solution and act as the liaison between product, technology, business and governance teams

  • Partner with the Product Manager and Value Stream lead to craft the product roadmap and prioritize product backlog features

  • Guide business analysts who own authoring user stories that effectively communicate stakeholder requirements and that are easily consumed by software development teams

  • Collaborate with the engineering team, in particular the Solution Architect, to define and validate the technical approach, strategy and deliverables for the project ​

  • Drive delivery across multiple domains, e.g. define and validate the technical approach, strategy and deliverables with engineering leads; lead QE in the execution of test plans and verification of sprint feature releases; facilitate UAT and business acceptance

  • Lead, facilitate and attend meetings; provide project status reporting to management; assist with testing scenarios, and validate results

  • Support Value Stream leader and the budgeting process by being accountable for vendor contracts

  • Manage audits for applications and technologies

  • Provide coaching and actively helping grow teammates’ careers

  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

What You’ll Bring

  • Ability to serve as a liaison between business and technical teams to drive effective, timely solutions that fulfill both strategic and operational needs

  • Demonstrated experience delivering, running, and scaling complex services and solutions

  • Experience working in a large scaled Agile environment, particularly familiar with Scrum practices

  • Strong organizational skills and the capability to interpret and handle a vast array of information

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to build trust with team members and stakeholders

  • A real passion for building software solutions with state-of-the-art technology

  • Knowledge of the end-to-end software and hardware renewal process, including tracking, monitoring, and managing software licenses and subscriptions for our product portfolio.

  • Demonstrate cultural interest and sensitivity. Ability to functionally drive highly engaged teams globally.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years managing software projects; must have at least 5+ years of experience leading teams of 5 or more as well as projects over 15,000 FTE hours, and/or $2M in budget

  • Coaching and mentorship experience, particularly in building communities of excellence to exchange best practices

  • Experience leading all Scrum events including sprint planning, daily Scrum, sprint review, and retrospective

  • Background in product ownership skills to tie product vision into an owned backlog of features and user stories
