Vicarious Surgical is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Waltham, MA. This role will be tasked with driving mechanical development of equipment associated with our surgical robot.

Responsibilities:

Participate in all phases of product development, including requirements definition, concept generation, detailed design, clinical simulation, manufacturing process development, assembly, integration, verification, and validation testing.
Manage a large scope of mechanical design work including possible partnership with external partners.
Specify and choose electromechanical components.
Understand, analyze, and suggest design improvements to existing technology.
Manage comprehensive verification and validation strategies at the subsystem and system level.
Work with partners to produce various levels of functional prototypes.
Produce, review and understand engineering drawings, GD&T and tolerance analyses.

About You

10+ years’ experience with Bachelor’s Degree.
8+ years’ experience with Master’s Degree.
Ability to manage, interact with and influence multiple stakeholders required.
Proficiency with solid modeling required, Solidworks preferred, FEA experience nice to have.
Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and various assembly techniques.
Comfort with and understanding of the interplay between various components of a complex, electromechanical system.
Prior experience supporting verification and validation plans to advance from prototype designs to finished products.
Prior direct work with external development partners and manufacturers preferred.
Enjoy mentoring less experienced team members in design and engineering best practices.
Experience with medical device product development / CFR 21 Part 820 design controls, IEC 60601 and the risk management process strongly desired.
Prior experience working on Robotics Systems is a plus.
