POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Information Developer plans, develops, writes, updates, and publishes documents and related files critical to the lifecycle of internal and external content. A presence in Velo3D facilities is required to develop information about the products.
NEAR TERM DELIVERABLES – First Year
- Develop expertise in hardware and software components of Velo3D products.
- Participate in team planning sessions to produce manual content in sync with team timelines.
- Update internal and customer-facing manuals as part of a team.
- Learn to execute the release process with accuracy and timeliness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Become familiar with daily operation and routine maintenance activities for the Sapphire family of products.
- Learn to use the associated Velo3D applications used to run and monitor the equipment.
- Manage several information development projects with some oversight, and with attention to team priorities.
- Collaborate with Customer Support personnel, Manufacturing Engineers, Hardware Engineers, and Software Developers when needed to produce and validate content.
- Meet with SMEs as needed, to create a doc set that is consistent, accurate, timely, and customer-worthy.
- Participate in developing processes, procedures, and documentation as guided by team leads.
- Use Velo3D’s existing systems for production release of engineering documents.
- Follow Velo3D protocols for security, safety, access, scheduling, and communications.
- Communicate daily activities; participate in team and other assigned meetings.
- Other duties as needed or required.
EDUCATION
- Required: Undergraduate degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Required:
- 4-6 years experience working in an Information Development department (or similar) for products with equipment and software components.
- Excellent writing, editing, and technical skills
- Knowledge of User Experience principles
- Graphics/illustration experience
- Experience with project management
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products (or an equivalent content management system)
- Knowledge of how information development fits into product lifecycle
- Desired:
- Has worked in a manufacturing environment
- Shared content repository and version control experience
- InDesign expertise
- Graphics/illustration expertise
- Experience with various content management/authoring systems
- Localization experience
- Familiarity with Engineering standards for documentation
- Familiarity with Git
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- User focus: The InfoDev organization is only as good as its doc set. Candidates should provide examples of concise, well-written documents that are clear and easy to use. The writer must demonstrate their skills using examples of writing for specific audiences in clear and efficient language, ideally using images, diagrams, and other focus-creating formatting and explain their level of authorship for the examples.
- Motivated operator:Deliverables produced on time and of high quality with some oversight. The ideal candidate meets their deadlines.
- Effective communicator: Ability to clearly articulate end user content, action plans, work item descriptions. Interviews SMEs verbally and in writing to drive assent.
- Attention to details/focus on quality: Quickly develops understanding of information development tools and procedures. Mindful of details and acts with confidence and accuracy. Is dedicated to the process: editing, validation, stakeholder review, and final iterations required to release a quality document to end users. The candidate should describe a typical review and approvals cycle they have worked in with confidence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Working in the Manufacturing Facility (or other Velo3D locations).
OTHER PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must wear steel-toed boots and protective eye-wear in Manufacturing or the Demo Lab outside the defined safe areas. Other personal protective equipment as applicable (e.g., if exposed to metal powder or loud noise).
- High frequency of computer keyboarding.
- High frequency of viewing a computer monitor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed both remotely and in Velo3D’s facilities.
Work Environment:
Work is performed at customer facilities. Work may be performed in emergency and stressful situations and may include handling of hazardous materials.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this full-time position is between $120,000 and $132,000. This salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this position in the U.S. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience, job-related skills, related education, work location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. In addition to a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package, this position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and equity program, as applicable.
