The Production Control Team Lead is responsible for coordinating daily production control activities within the warehouse to ensure accurate material flow, inventory integrity, and on-time support of manufacturing operations. This role bridges Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Logistics to ensure materials are available, properly staged, and aligned with the production schedule.

Production Control Lead will lead production control associates and drives execution of material planning, transaction accuracy, cycle counting, and line-side replenishment processes.

Key Responsibilities

Production Control & Material Flow

  • Coordinate daily material release in alignment with the master production schedule.
  • Ensure timely staging, and delivery of materials to production lines.
  • Monitor material shortages and proactively escalate supply risks.
  • Works with the team on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive adherence to FIFO, lot traceability, and inventory accuracy standards.
  • Partner with Supervisor to resolve part availability constraints.

Inventory Accuracy & Systems

  • Ensure accurate ERP transactions (receipts, transfers, consumption, adjustments).
  • Lead cycle count activities and investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain real-time inventory visibility to support production continuity.
  • Enforce material labeling, location control, and warehouse organization standards.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop production control coordinators and warehouse associates.
  • Assign daily priorities and manage workload distribution.
  • Provide development and performance feedback.
  • Cross-train team members to ensure coverage and flexibility.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Production Supervisors to support take time and build sequence.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing/Process Engineering to support BOM accuracy.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives to streamline material flow.
  • Participate in daily Gemba walks and production meetings.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify bottlenecks in material staging and replenishment processes.
  • Drive 5S standards within warehouse and line-side storage areas.
  • Lead kaizen activities focused on reducing material handling waste.
  • Track KPIs including:
    • Inventory accuracy
    • Line stoppages due to material
    • Pick accuracy
    • On-time material delivery
    • Cycle count adherence

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–5+ years of experience in warehouse operations, production control, or materials.
  • 1–2+ years in a team lead.
  • Experience in a logistics and warehousing environment (high-mix, high-volume preferred).
  • Strong ERP/MRP system experience.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control principles and material planning.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Lean Manufacturing training or certification.
  • Understanding of takt-based production systems.
  • Forklift certification (if applicable).

Compensation


Offers are based on a combination of experience, skills, and location. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $32- $38 hourly for Hayward, CA and surrounding areas.
