About Veev
Veev is leading the transformation of the construction industry with an innovative approach to modular home construction. Veev’s prefabricated closed-panel systems allow homes to be assembled efficiently on-site while delivering a more sustainable and higher-quality final product than traditional construction. As a new subsidiary of Lennar, Veev leverages the strength and scale of its parent company while maintaining the speed and disruptive approach of its roots as a Silicon Valley-based startup. Veev has developed a vertically integrated approach that involves multidisciplinary collaboration across real estate, design, development, engineering, manufacturing, and construction.
This role is critical to Veev's mission by ensuring that the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems in our modular homes are efficient, code-compliant, and fully integrated. As an MEP Engineer, your work will directly support Veev’s ability to scale operations and bridge the gap between R&D concepts and high-fidelity factory production.
The Role
As an MEP Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation and multidisciplinary integration of MEP systems for production. You will serve as a technical bridge, ensuring that R&D developments are correctly implemented into specific home designs while supporting factory and construction teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and code-compliant.
You will manage detailed Revit models, perform engineering calculations within your core discipline, and produce production-ready documentation. A key responsibility is design integration across disciplines.
You will coordinate with the Architectural, Structural, and R&D teams to ensure MEP systems are fully integrated into the closed-panel system.
This is a high-ownership role in a fast-paced production environment, requiring the ability to operate across design, coordination, and real-time problem solving during active builds. This role is best suited for engineers who are motivated by seeing their designs built and are comfortable working close to fabrication and construction teams.
Responsibilities
MEP Design & Integration
- Develop coordinated Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing layouts for modular panels, ensuring all systems fit within strict structural constraints.
- Translate and apply R&D system concepts into buildable, production-ready designs while maintaining Veev’s core product standards.
- Perform load calculations within your core discipline, with a general understanding of system impacts across MEP, and ensure compliance with applicable codes (e.g., NEC, CMC/CPC, Title 24) in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Modeling & Documentation
- Develop and maintain coordinated BIM (Revit) 3D models. Work with BIM/MCAD teams to create robust digital assets.
- Produce production-ready documentation for factory assembly and field installation, ensuring clarity, repeatability, and minimal ambiguity.
- Create specific building details for production based on R&D developments, ensuring design intent is maintained through the manufacturing process.
- Own the development and release of production-ready MEP models, drawings, and documentation, ensuring systems are fully coordinated, manufacturable, and ready for fabrication and installation.
- Take on a multi-functional role across MEP design, BIM modeling, coordination, and production support, stepping in where needed to ensure successful delivery.
Collaboration & Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Architectural, Structural, BIM, MCAD, Manufacturing, and Construction teams to identify design gaps and resolve cross-disciplinary clashes before fabrication.
- Support the permitting process as needed, providing technical input for building department submittals.
- Coordinate with third-party consultants (Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, Low-Voltage) to ensure full system integration and adherence to Veev design guides.
- Support factory and field teams through RFI resolution, identifying design gaps, and implementing iterative improvements based on production feedback.
Continuous Improvement & Production Optimization
- Identify and implement cost-saving, efficiency, and manufacturability improvements while maintaining performance, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all designs are ready for release-to-fabrication with minimal need for post-design adjustments.
- Apply DFMA principles to standardize MEP designs, reducing variability and enabling scalable, repeatable production.
- Communicate progress, risks, and coordination status to the team lead and stakeholders.
Must-Have Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes within your core discipline (e.g., NEC for Electrical or CMC/CPC for Mechanical/Plumbing), with familiarity with Title 24 requirements.
- Proven experience in residential MEP design, with depth in at least one discipline (Electrical or Mechanical) and exposure to others.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit within multi-disciplinary BIM environments, with experience developing coordinated production models and extracting fabrication-ready documentation.
- Strong ability to manage competing constraints across Architectural, Structural, and Manufacturing requirements, and resolve complex cross-disciplinary clashes.
- Ability to produce clear, detailed, and accurate production documentation suitable for both factory assembly and on-site installation.
- Communicate complex MEP requirements across R&D, BIM, and Factory teams to ensure seamless design-to-production handoffs.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong sense of ownership with the ability to drive work from concept through production release and field execution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with global R&D teams and local manufacturing teams.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in electrical design and MEP design, coordination, and integration.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Competencies
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or demonstrated progress toward licensure.
- Experience in off-site construction, prefabrication, or panelized/modular housing environments.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks and PDM systems to support hardware/system integration.
- Understanding of design-for-manufacture and assembly (DFMA) principles, with experience optimizing designs for scalable production.
- Expertise in Navisworks or other advanced clash detection and coordination tools.
