Veev is leading the way in the transformation of the construction industry with an innovative approach to modular home construction. Veev’s prefabricated closed panel systems allow homes to be assembled efficiently on site while delivering both a more sustainable and higher quality final product than traditional construction. As a new subsidiary of Lennar, Veev is leveraging the strength and scale of its parent company while maintaining the speed and disruptive approach from its roots as a Silicon Valley-based startup. Veev has developed a vertically integrated approach that involves multi-disciplinary collaboration across real estate, design, development, engineering, manufacturing, and construction.

The Role

Veev is seeking an experienced leader to head the company’s innovative Real Estate strategy. Our ideal candidate has deep knowledge of real estate, experience in the Bay Area, and a demonstrated ability to implement scalable, data-driven processes. The Vice President of Real Estate will be responsible for implementing an overarching strategy and overseeing all aspects of Veev’s Real Estate vertical, including acquisitions, permitting, site development, sales, marketing, and customer care.

Responsibilities

  • Real Estate Strategy:
    • Develop overarching strategy and long-term vision for Veev’s Real Estate vertical.
    • Set team structure and goals.
    • Oversee the team and provide guidance and feedback to ensure success.
    • Structure and implement scalable, repeatable processes and systems across all areas of the Real Estate vertical.
  • Acquisitions:
    • Define process for identifying target submarkets in the Bay Area using a repeatable, data-driven approach.
    • Drive systematic (and, over time, automatic) acquisitions of homesites that fit a defined buy-box in target submarkets that are compatible with Veev’s requirements.
  • Permitting:
    • Leverage deep local real estate knowledge to develop a playbook that ensures Veev receives planning and building department approvals on a consistent timeline.
    • Work with municipalities on a streamlined “master” approval process that increases the predictability of approvals for Veev and eases review burdens for local officials.
  • Site Development:
    • Develop a “preferred” site work subcontractor list and standardize Veev’s bidding
    • processes with these partners.
    • Create a system to oversee all aspects of site work, including schedule management, budget versus actual analysis, and work quality assessment.
  • Sales / Marketing:
    • Develop an overarching sales strategy to maximize home sales prices and minimize the risk of carrying inventory beyond completion date.
    • Collaborate with an external sales team to develop marketing strategies related to both individual home sales and broader consumer awareness for Veev.
  • Customer Care:
    • Build a team to manage home delivery, customer care, and warranty.
    • Create a feedback loop from customers to the Veev team, allowing us to improve our product and Real Estate decisions over time.
    • Develop a long-term engagement strategy that allows Veev to maintain connectivity with its customers well beyond the initial home sale transaction.
  • Partnerships:
    • Build and maintain “win-win" strategic partnerships with 3rd party team members (brokers, expediters, etc.), local government officials, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Administration, or a real estate related field. MBA/MSc is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Veev’s Real Estate vertical, with expertise in the Bay Area. Experience with a scattered-site single-family strategy is a plus.
  • Proven experience building scalable and repeatable processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple complexities and tasks while thriving in a fast-paced startup
  • environment.
  • Superior written and public speaking / verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the Real Estate team to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to motivate and engage a team to produce high quality results.
  • Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure including MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, Oracle Netsuite, and typical project management tools.

Physical Requirements

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the associate to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Some travel required. Finger dexterity is necessary.

Compensation

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skills, education, experience, and location is $250k -$325k annually for Hayward, CA and surrounding areas.
