The Team

Upstart’s Office and Workplace Events team is responsible for creating a safe and inspiring work environment for our employees and providing a warm welcome for our visitors.

As the Office and Workplace Events Assistant at Upstart, you will be responsible for creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for all visitors and employees in the Upstart office, assist with the execution of team on-sites and events, and act as a first point of contact for all Upstart employees and visitors by maintaining the front desk.

Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: On-site in Columbus, OH

Travel Requirements - Once or twice per year you may be asked to travel to our San Mateo, CA and/or Austin, TX offices for an Office Management team offsite. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Act as the front desk receptionist to greet all Upstart visitors and ensure security standards are upheld.
  • Perform general office duties, and other duties as assigned (scanning, printing, restocking, etc.)
  • Take ownership and pride in our physical workspace. Manage general upkeep and supplies. Uphold office standards and aesthetic by conducting daily walkthroughs to ensure the office is clean and organized, and escalating anything of note.
  • Work with a variety of vendors to ensure the office is properly stocked and catering is provided, resupplying each space regularly.
  • Support facility-related employee onboarding and off-boarding processes.
  • Assist in executing offsite events and activities like happy hours, team buildings and other celebrations (occasional evening event coverage may be required) - includes setup/cleanup

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, HR or related degree is preferred, or equivalent workplace experience
    • 1+ years of experience as an executive assistant or in administration, office management, event planning, or similar field
    • Proven ability to stay organized, prioritize workload, and execute tasks with great attention to detail
    • Confident, positive demeanor and ability to communicate across all levels in the organization in a professional and friendly manner
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Ability to take initiative and make decisions quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
    • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
    • Excellent sense of ownership and the ability to work well on a team under limited supervision
    • Previous experience with scheduling or and space allocation is preferred
    • Competent computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and processes
    • Demonstrated ability to keep information confidential

This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week, or over 8 in a work day if required by state law.

$21.93$27.93 USD
