About Tortus

Tortus is one of the fastest growing AI startups in the UK, building the next generation of AI co-pilots for doctors. Their unique AI agent ‘O.S.L.E.R’, is designed to assist clinicians by automating a variety of time-consuming everyday tasks, with the goal of eliminating burnout and human error in medical practice.

O.S.L.E.R accomplishes this by leveraging Tortus’ bleeding edge Medical LAM (Large Action Model) technology, which enables it to perform actions on the computer just like a human does, by looking at the screen and controlling the mouse and keyboard. With this technology, O.S.L.E.R is able to perform any task on an EHR that a human doctor can, such as writing SOAP notes, referral letters, placing orders and filing diagnoses.

Tortus is backed by Khosla Ventures and several angel investors including a former Chair of the NHS. They have also recently announced the launch of a partnership with a world-leading London NHS hospital, where its technology will be deployed in clinical settings as part of a research pilot.

This will be the one of the first times that generative AI has been deployed into an NHS hospital, assisting doctors and other staff members and helping improve the experiences of patients and their families. Tortus has also become the first UK company to have been awarded the NHS DTAC standard of compliance for such a technology.
