About The Team

We are seeking a Principal Hardware Product Manager to extend our award winning experience into the real lives of our 70 million members. We need a highly motivated, resilient, self-starting teammate to lead the continued development and integration of our 10+ million active devices and introduce new products to solve our users’ everyday problems.
About the Job
The role is a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on action, and constant communication. It starts with delving into user behavior metrics, survey data, consumer interviews and competitor offerings to extract insights. The first goal is to better understand the 'jobs' current and future users need done and finding how Life360 can solve them by using our distinct union of devices, mobile applications and network solutions.
This role is cross-functional - you will work closely with engineering, design, operations, finance, and executive teams to bring features and products to market, and grow business opportunities. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively in a matrix organization, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. “Direct with Respect," is a core value at Life360 and this leader will receive candid feedback from multiple stakeholders. Conversely, the Hardware product leader will be expected to speak with confidence and candor. The ideal candidate is well versed in software and hardware development from requirements management to design, test, prototype and volume manufacturing as well as Consumer Electronics background.
The US based salary range for this position is $195,000 to $275,000. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
What You’ll Do
- Deeply understand customers, technology and competition to then synthesize that knowledge into product strategy
- Developing delightful and high quality experiences across the entire usage lifecycle of hardware, firmware, and software.
- Stay constantly up to date on new and evolving hardware technologies and understand how they can be leveraged in a consumer context.
- Envision the next generations of the hardware products, incorporating existing and frontier technologies, that redefine consumer experiences.
- Understand strategic and competitive position in the market and deliver products that are recognized best in the industry
- Create and broadcast a long term hardware roadmap to meet your vision for devices
- Partners with Engineering to push the limits of what’s possible with hardware and software and works creatively and collaboratively to overcome feasibility constraints.
- Partner with product and engineering analytics to drive measurable outcomes at scale
- Work with sales, marketing and finance to develop and defend the business case for each feature and product
- Develop and communicate product priorities across the company by collaborating with various functions and building consensus among them
- Gather, review, parse and prioritize requirements from business, engineering, and system teams
- Collaborate with multiple teams to guide projects through development and bring high quality products to life
- Integrate usability studies, research and market analysis into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction
- Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm
- Develop detailed user requirements that can be used to create product specifications and design
- Broad knowledge of hardware, and firmware (and software) technologies, along with an understanding of manufacturing processes

What We’re Looking For
- Experience:
- 8+ years in hardware engineering, product/technical program management or product development
- OR equivalent experience
- 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- 3+ years experience in technical and hands-on background, especially in consumer electronics, IoT or mobile hardware technologies
- Vision: You've formed, gained buy-in, and driven key strategies shaping the direction of your team.
- Results: You're excellent tactically, with a proven track record of shipping simple, elegant products at scale.
- Analytical skills: You have a great ability to absorb and apply data to your decision making.
- Customer empathy: You have experience shaping product direction and execution based on customer needs.
- Hustle: You’re scrappy, able to push through obstacles, and ready to roll up your sleeves wherever needed.
- A collaborative approach: Experience driving alignment with cross-functional partners in a complex organization.
- Natural curiosity: You bring innate inquisitiveness to your work and have an obsession with the details
- Experience working through problems with high ambiguity and without a definitive answer.
- An international approach: You’ve developed industry-leading products that have gained a strong followership and product loyalty both in the US and internationally.
