The Role
As the Manager of Solution Engineering for our Commercial segment at ThoughtSpot, you’ll lead a team of high-performing Sales Engineers focused on driving value for our commercial customers. Your mission is to empower your team to deliver compelling technical evaluations, guide strategic sales cycles, and help customers realize the full potential of ThoughtSpot's Modern Analytics Cloud. This is a highly visible leadership role that bridges the gap between sales, product, and customer success - ensuring our Commercial accounts receive both strategic and hands-on support throughout their journey with ThoughtSpot.
What You’ll Do:
Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Solution Engineers supporting the Commercial segment across a wide range of industries and use cases.
Partner closely with sales leadership to define go-to-market strategies, territory coverage, and customer engagement models.
Ensure your team delivers compelling, value-driven demos and technical validations (POVs, POCs, pilots) that showcase ThoughtSpot's differentiated capabilities.
Roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with your team when needed, providing technical guidance and direct support on complex technical validations and customer engagements
Drive team excellence in discovery, storytelling, and objection handling, tailored to the unique challenges of Commercial customers.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and Support to bring customer insights back into the business.
Help recruit and onboard top SE talent, and foster a culture of learning, growth, and operational excellence.
Analyze and optimize team performance using KPIs and metrics to improve impact across the sales funnel.
Stay on top of analytics, data, and cloud trends to ensure your team remains trusted advisors to our customers.
What You Bring:
5+ years of experience in Solution Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Pre-Sales, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or team lead role.
Experience supporting or managing teams in the Commercial segment (<1k Employees), ideally within a high-growth SaaS or data/analytics environment.
Deep understanding of analytics, BI, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data architectures (data warehouses, data lakes, etc.).
Proven ability to coach teams through complex sales cycles, technical evaluations, and customer presentations.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority.
A strong customer-first mindset and a passion for enabling businesses through data.
Familiarity with ThoughtSpot or similar tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.), data modeling techniques and hands-on experience with SQL and/or scripting languages.
