Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Data and Accounting Products team provides the foundation for Stripe’s financial intelligence, including Sigma, SDP, and Revenue Recognition. We enable a diverse spectrum of users—from brand-new startups to public companies—to have seamless, centralized access to their data and automated financial reporting solutions.

While the internet has been a boon to productivity, common financial processes like monthly accounting and quarterly reporting remain painfully manual and fragmented across dozens of tools. The stakes are high: one-third of finance leaders reopen their books every quarter due to errors, and half spend significant time manually correcting discrepancies.

Our suite relieves these burdens by building revenue management and data tools as sophisticated as the businesses they run. We automate manual work and improve accuracy across the entire cash flow life cycle—from payments and billing to tax, reporting, and reconciliation.

As part of the Data and AI organization, we are investing in a highly extensible platform and data foundations. We are building the integrations and infrastructure that allow us to scale our reach by orders of magnitude, turning massive datasets into trustworthy, real-time financial insights for our users.

What you’ll do

As the Engineering Manager for the Accounting products team, you will lead a group of talented engineers responsible for a critical, customer-facing data product. You will partner closely with product and design to set the strategy and roadmap for a service that thousands of businesses rely on for their own analytics and reporting. You will be responsible for the operational excellence and scalability of the product, ensuring we deliver a comprehensive and trustworthy data pipeline that delights our users.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a product-focused team of engineers, fostering a culture of user empathy, high-quality execution, and operational rigor.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and commercial teams to define the strategy and roadmap for the Revenue Recognition product.
  • Drive the technical vision for building a highly reliable, scalable, and secure data synchronization service for thousands of Stripe customers.
  • Lead, coach, retain, and recruit a high-performing team.
  • Work with customers to understand their needs and translate their feedback into tangible product improvements and new features.
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 1+ years of engineering management experience and 8+ years of overall experience in the industry.
  • A proven track record of hiring, leading, and developing productive engineering teams that have shipped high-quality user facing products.
  • A strong technical background and hands-on experience in solving large-scale and difficult technical problems, particularly with distributed systems.
  • Experience working effectively cross-functionally with product management, design, and other stakeholders.
  • The ability to thrive in ambiguous environments while operating with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.
  • Experience encouraging a healthy and inclusive work environment that is both challenging and supportive.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience managing teams that built and operated customer-facing data products, ETL/ELT services, or B2B SaaS products.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing technologies (e.g., Spark, Flink, Kafka)
  • A strong product and design sense, with an enjoyment for finding elegant solutions to complex user problems.
  • Experience working in high-growth teams similar to Stripe.
Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

Stripe does not yet include pay ranges in job postings in every country. Stripe strongly values pay transparency and is working toward pay transparency globally.
