About the team

The Product Accounting Team is responsible for supporting all products at Stripe, consulting on accounting implications and supporting teams' ability to make informed strategic decisions. We are responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all business-generated transactions on our balance sheet and income statement. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate significantly with cross-functional and international teams.

What you’ll do

As a member of the Product Accounting team, you will support the processing and reporting of our financial results of our physical products businesses, such as Terminal card readers. You will collaborate significantly with various stakeholders across finance, product, and engineering teams to understand and advise on accounting treatment of underlying business initiatives and transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in building scalable accounting processes to support global growth and new product launches
  • Plan and review monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses and analytical reviews, producing internal management reporting and external audit support
  • Partner with Systems, Logistics, Treasury, Billing Operations, Tax and Legal teams to support internal financial systems process improvements and automation and to advise on accounting implications
  • Design, implement and execute efficient internal control procedures
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedural documentation

Who you are

Minimum requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience in revenue and inventory accounting
  • B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
  • Fluency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex accounting issues; experience with ASC 330 a plus
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and experience working with large data sets
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience with internal controls (design, implementation and execution)
  • Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results
  • Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of (or experience in) the technology or payments industry.
  • SQL experience
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $132,000 - $198,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
