Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Compliance Platform team builds foundational infrastructure to enable Stripe to meet its compliance obligations. Our products make technology compliance at Stripe more sustainable, predictable, and scalable. We design, develop, and deploy a suite of internal compliance primitives known as the Stripe Compliance Stack. We collaborate closely with customers in Infrastructure and product engineering teams to incorporate the Compliance Stack into systems and processes.

What you’ll do

You will join one of the teams behind infrastructure platforms used by engineering, security, and business partners at Stripe. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of high quality compliance applications used internally throughout Stripe, while ensuring these applications are reliable and prepared to scale with Stripe’s growth.

You will build solutions that may be “from scratch”, built on top of in-house platforms, or leveraging 3rd party solutions. We partner closely with internal infrastructure and security teams as well as compliance subject matter experts. We expect that working along the team’s technical leaders, you will be able to understand their needs and build software that best meets their needs. We are a highly effective team, consistently delivering high-impact results while genuinely caring for each other.

We’re looking for engineers with a background in product development, and who are interested in delivering great user experience products to internal and external customers. We’d love to hear from you whether you’ve been working in compliance, security, or infrastructure your whole career, or would like to try your skill set in a new-to-you compliance and infrastructure engineering domain.

Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will design, build and maintain products and features supporting compliance use cases at Stripe
  • Partner with the organization’s Tech Leads to plan for growth of compliance platform infrastructure.
  • Build new applications on top of Stripe’s existing compliance infrastructure, and collaborate with teams that build that infrastructure on designing and prioritizing new platform features
  • Partner with other infrastructure and security teams to use and provide feedback on APIs that provide security and compliance functionality
  • Design and implement applications that address specific compliance use cases at Stripe
  • Build a great customer experience for developers and business partners using your products

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering experience OR equivalent combined work experience reflecting domain expertise as relevant to this position
  • Experience in building products and features centered around users’ needs
  • Experience in building high-quality, reliable backend and frontend systems
  • A strong technical background gained through education or on-the-job experiences

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in product development and design
  • Interest in optimizing the reliability, latency, and UX of user-facing front-end applications
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, genuinely caring for each other and contributing to high level of psychological safety for all team members and partners
  • Problem-solving skills, determination, and a growth mindset

It’s not expected that you’ll have deep expertise in every dimension above, but you should be interested in learning any of the areas that are less familiar.

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €104,000 - €156,000. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
