Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Accounting Team is responsible for understanding and telling Stripe’s financial story and shaping our collective understanding of how Stripe is performing as a business. Our primary focus is maintaining a well-controlled environment that effectively supports corporate governance, financial reporting and disclosure requirements. We advise and enable Stripe to grow. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate significantly with cross-functional and international teams.

What you’ll do

In this role you will lead aspects of Corporate Accounting, leveraging your technical expertise with US GAAP to quickly identify accounting and reporting implications and close the books accurately and timely. You will implement and maintain effective global corporate processes, including working across various Accounting subteams and cross-functional stakeholders to improve processes and support company initiatives. You’ll elevate the ambitions of your team to deliver outstanding results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop the team to set and meet goals and continuously improve.
  • Plan and review monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, analytical reviews and financial reporting deliverables
  • Design, implement, and maintain effective internal control constructs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Financial Systems, Finance and Strategy, Treasury, Investor Relations, Tax, and Legal to design and operationalize accounting requirements of new business initiatives and transactions
  • Identify, recommend and implement scalable accounting processes and automation improvements to support Stripe’s global growth.

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience
  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting and expertise in US GAAP (CPA strongly preferred)
  • Experience with internal controls (design, implementation and execution)
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and leading teams.
  • Detail-orientation with rigorous approach to delivering high-quality work
  • Enthusiasm to get things done through a combination of hands on execution and leading others
  • Ability to influence across diverse groups and levels, including financial system engineering teams
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $137,300 - $205,900. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
