About the team

The Employee Relations and HR Compliance team is a relatively new center of excellence here at Stripe. We are striving to build a respectful, balanced, well-skilled team focused on enabling the People team, managers, and ICs to navigate challenging career moments while balancing compliance, empathy, and risk, resulting in success and engagement for all. We believe that this function can also take on a broader remit at Stripe and are looking for someone who is interested and has experience in building and expanding to include additional areas such as crisis management, and drive proactive initiatives to help us manage risk as well as build strong, healthy organizations that fully live our operating principles.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Head of Global Employee Relations & HR Compliance to lead our growing team. We are looking to find a leader that can bring both deep expertise and a propensity for innovation to help build out this function for Stripe. You will have deep subject matter expertise in ER, HR, and global HR compliance but also will bring strong business acumen, creative problem solving skills, and the ability to co-create a function that is designed for Stripe. This team will be a highly cross-functional and collaborative organization that works across Stripe.

  • Build an overarching, forward-looking global ER and HR compliance strategy, ensuring alignment to Stripe’s company strategy and the People team strategy. Ensure we are reacting to employee concerns, building the right culture, and responding to employee concerns with respect, empathy, and care.
  • Lead and manage a team of global ER Partners delivering best-in-class ER practices.
  • Build a team to support our global HR compliance requirements particularly in complex regions such as EMEA.
  • Partner with the People Leadership team to define the ER function and enable other parts of the organization (Global Benefits, People Partners, People Specialists, etc) to successfully execute on their goals
  • Establish, guide, and consult on the development of the appropriate policies, practices, and norms needed to maintain our code of conduct, talent philosophy, and live our operating principles
  • Ensure that we comply with all HR legal, regulatory and audit requirements on behalf of Stripe globally.
  • Proactively identify and address HR risk and compliance issues on behalf of Stripe.
  • Advise on org wide enablement needed to educate Stripes, managers and leaders, and partner with our People Development and Programs teams to integrate learning and education and/or supplement with focused content.
  • Guide and support the teams focused on case management, including investigations, performance management, accommodations, etc. Continue to partner on the development of our policies and practices.
  • In partnership with Security, Insider Threat and employment legal teams, build out a right-sized crisis management approach, to ensure we are partnering across Stripe to be prepared and able to respond to fast moving situations.
  • Provide counsel and guidance to our senior leadership team, leveraging data and proactive problem solving to ensure Stripe can achieve its commitment to users and Stripes.
  • Establish data driven insights to steer decision-making and drive actionable insights in the ER and HR compliance spaces, and connect to broader People initiatives.
  • Build an ER and HR compliance function that can operate at scale to support the next evolution of Stripe.
