We are hiring an Events Coordinator to join our team located in Washington, DC

As the Events Coordinator, you will:

  • Plan and coordinate State Affairs’ presence at national political and policy conferences.
  • Manage logistics, exhibit space, branding, and staffing to ensure a strong, professional presence.
  • Support relationship-building with lawmakers, customers, and potential clients at these events.
  • Organize events where State Affairs operates, including receptions, panels, and client-focused gatherings.
  • Partner with sales, editorial, and leadership teams to design events that generate revenue, sponsorship opportunities, and new business leads.
  • Ensure events reinforce goodwill with clients and policymakers, supporting long-term retention and growth.
  • Plan and execute State Affairs’ annual all-hands offsite, including venue selection, logistics, programming, travel coordination, and onsite execution.
  • Partner with leadership and operations teams to deliver an engaging, productive event that strengthens company culture and alignment.
  • Own the full event cycle: budgeting, planning, scheduling, promotion, logistics, vendor management, on-site execution, and post-event reporting.
  • Develop scalable processes for event planning and execution across multiple states.
  • Track performance metrics (attendance, sponsorship revenue, pipeline impact) and provide regular reporting.
  • Work closely with the sales team to align events with business development goals.
  • Coordinate with editorial and marketing teams to ensure event content aligns with State Affairs’ mission and brand.
  • Collaborate with sponsors, partners, and vendors to maximize impact and ROI.

Essential Qualifications for this position include:

  • 2+ years of professional work experience as an event coordinator
  • Prior professional work experience with sponsorship development and revenue focused events
  • Ability to manage complex logistics across multiple states or regions
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build professional relationships
  • Ability to travel nationally, as needed
  • Organizational and project management skills with keen attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications for this position include:

  • Prior professional work experience in conference management or related events work
  • Understanding of state politics, legislative processes, or political media
  • Prior professional work experience in a start-up organization

This is a hybrid work opportunity and our teams operate from the Washington, DC office (located at L and 15th St. NW) at least 4 (four) days per week. State Affairs offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package to employees.

The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $65,000 to $75,000 for candidates working from the State Affairs office in Washington, DC. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity. Benefits listed in this posting may vary depending on the nature of your employment with State Affairs.
